Greetings all-

I was just reading some posts here, and one specifically mentions distance in that game.  For example, it says that if you are taking a sniper shot at 100 meters one needs to aim a bit higher for bullet drop; okay fair enough.  But here's my question, how can you tell how far you are away from something when playing the game?

Thanks-

you just need to get a feel for it, although in bf2142 the distance appears in the scope

If you're a squad leader, issue an order at your target's feet and it will give you the distance to the order marker.

I find the same problem when shooting the grenade-launcher-rifle (sorry, I don't play enough to know the names).  It is hard for me to judge distance.

Or just get used to measuring it in your head.

yah, i have the same problem some times, but i usually dont need to shoot from so far away that my bullet dropps.  I am horrable at the grenade launcher.  I know it has the horrizontal bars but i don't have a clue how to measure with them.

Other than actually measuring the distance using the squad-leader tip you can also look to see if there is a nearby flag, since that will give you some way to estimate range.

But you know the old joke:
"How do I get to Carnegie Hall?"
"Practice, practice, practice."

After a while though you won't think about range in numbers, you'll be able to tell the range (in a way that matters... where to aim) just by the size of the target in the scope.

Grenade launcher/noob toob/GL/n00b toob

If you want to get better with the GL practice in singleplayer, it's a good way to get a feel for it without having people bitch about you using it as an anti-personnel weapon plus the bots don't move as dynamically as human players often do.
