In these images, the pic labeled reference is an actual photo.  The one labeled real-time is an in-game render.  Pretty amazing job of photo realism.......

Can't wait to see Crysis in all it's DX10 glory.

These specs are not official, but they are what many people are speculating as being "in the ball park".

Minimum Requirements
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600/X800GTO (SM 2.0)
RAM: 768Mb/1Gb on Windows Vista
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

Recommended Requirements

CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
RAM: 1.5Gb
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX10 with Windows Vista
I would expect a higher ram requirement but otherwise they seem pretty reasonable.  Obviously, DX10 and Vista will be required to see the game in all it's glory but DX9 and XP are also supported. The developers have put a lot of effort into making sure it will be accessible to those will less than bleeding edge systems.   Even running under XP / DX9, with the new engine it will definitely look a far cry better than Far Cry.

I think many will be surprised when they see the actual minimum specs.

Oh, I'm fucked.  I guess I'll just have to drool at the game rather than play it.

You don't have to have a DX10 card to play Crysis, a DX9 card will run it just fine (although with less shader effects).  The earliest public demonstrations of Crysis were running on DX9 cards and it looked great.

Way too many people seem to think you can't even play the game on DX9 hardware....

Here is a quote from the Lead Developer of Crysis:

GameInformer: How scalable is Crysis going to be for lower end PCs?  Do you have a low end benchmark right now?

Yerli: We didn’t do a low end benchmark. What we are aiming for is going two years back in the hardware specs. We will support two year old hardware in every aspect and make sure it’s available.
So a rig which was high performance 2 years ago will still run Crysis (just barely I'd imagine) but that's still enough that most people will be able to play the game without an upgrade....

as long as they get the gamplay right it will be the game that reminds everyone of the limitations of a console.  I'd expect at least a year between when the game comes out and when hardware actually catches up to the capability of of the engine.

Heh, i'm pretty sure if you look at those pics under a microscope, all you'll see is a bunch of 1's and 0's.

You're right.  In an interview with Yerli, he said that they are designing the game to scale up to hardware that will be available a year and a half from now.  I'd imagine that Crysis will have quality settings that will bring even a system with a Kentsfield quad core and a G80 to it's knees.

It'll be very interesting to see Crysis's capabilities, that's for sure.
