Would it steal bandwidth, even if I'm posting it on the originating site?

Are you asking that if you linked to something residing on another site on a BF2S page would it cost Chuy bandwidth?

If so, you'll only cost Chuy more bandwidth if the topic is hot enough to generate more hits...otherwise, the download of the linked media goes from the site that it resides on directly to your browser, not 'through' BF2s.com.  Hence the term (apologies for the condescension) 'link'.

If you link to some media or something ON bf2s.com that would render on the other side (example, linking to an image file or similar), then yes, you would cost Chuy bandwidth.  For example, if I designed a web page and used an image for my background on mysite.com using an image from another site...
<img src="http://static.bf2s.com/site-images/inner-header.gif"> then every time that page was called and rendered, the visitor's browser would also make a call to static.bf2s.com to get that image.

What exactly are you trying to hotlink?

The only way it'll cost Bf2s bandwidth is if whatever you are hotlinking is loaded in your page from Bf2s.com.

Example, if you're using a picture, and you use code similar to this:
<img src="http://www.bf2s.com/images/pic.jpg" />
Then yes, you will be stealing bandwidth since the image loads from BF2s server and it costs you nothing.

If instead you are loading image like this:
<img src="http://www.yourdomain.com/images/pic.jpg" /> or <img src="images/pic.jpg" />
Then the image is being loaded from your server and you are not costing Bf2s a dime.

You can't exactly hotlink other things like text (so wouldn't cost them). Linking to Bf2s also doesn't count as hotlinking in case that's what you mean.
