Would this work!

Well I have just found out that I have 512mb of ram which has a frequency of 333mhz(2700) so I am planning on buying 1 gig that has 400mhz, but would this work in any way since the frequencies are not the same?

Well I only know that it is an intelboard, that can have 2 gigs of ram and the highest frequency it can handle is 400mhz(3200)

Your motherboard supports up to DDR400 so it will work to it's full potential. But if you also put the 512MB DDR333 stick in with the DDR400 stick, the DDR400 stick will downclock itself to match the DDR333 stick's frequency.

If you use your BIOS's Default or Automatic RAM settings it will run at the slower speed, but you may be able to make the 333 run at 400MHz by changing the setting to User Defined and setting the speed manually.
I did it to make my old mismatched ram run at the same speeds. I had 1 stick of PC2100(266MHz) and 2 of PC2700(333) that all ran at PC3200(400) speed. Of course this will all be dependant on the options your motherboard has. If it's a Dell, HP or other name brand, prebuilt unit your options may well be limited. If it's a "custom" build then you should be good to go.

BAsically if its an intel board hes probably not to well off in any department. because they consider Overclocking Taboo and lock there boards still. Even simple memory settings they consider a OC tweak. Like there new processors but hate intel boards. Was a happy day when compusa started to carry real Mobo's like asus and abit and the likes, instead of those Intel crappers.
