Ok I understand overclocking is supposed to help you gain fps, but for some reason when I turn my overclock on and play a game it gets laggier than without the overclock being on.  Im confused????  Did I do something wrong?

I have a motherboad fan hooked up to my card, I dont think it would overheat.  Oh by the way its a 9800 pro.  Yes yes I know I need an upgrade, but there are more important stuff to spend money on right now.

I'm not familiar with ATI but there must be some way to check its temp. It may also just be unstable at that speed.

Talk to the ninja, just don't let him sell you a conroe.

It can still overheat.  Just because you have a fan on it does not mean that it will stay cool.  What size of fan do you have, and what is it's RPM?  That is some specs that matter when overclocking.  If the fan is not large enough, or it does not have a high enough RPM, then it will not cool the GPU off quick enough.

This fan takes up half the card and its rpm is about 4200.  Ill just lower the clock speeds a little bit and see if that helps.
