Has ayone unlocked this thing yet? I unlocked both Engineer trees except for the weapons and I'm not really into the H-AVR. Anyone tried or seen the Mitchell in action?
yep. I got it tonight via squad upgrades. very awesome. It rarely missed.. you can fire two shots right after each other and thats all it takes to down aircraft (if they both hit)
its pretty sweet. I am for sure unlocking this next rankup.

it doesnt seem useful to me...you dont really see much choppers flying around and theres more land vehicles than air vehicles...only useful stuff are the components of the AA Rockets tree...motion mine...EMP mine..
the pilium wins by far...check out the little demo video i made in the media section
qft...tried the pilum in single player by modifying the content and i loved the pilum...picked up the pilum few times too and it OWNZstraz_mataz wrote:

Pilum is my AA weapon of choice.
I havn't tried it in Titan (I have to field upgrade it, and theres no teamwork in titan), but surely you could stand on top of your own Titan and kill any apporaching transport choppers?
I have used it a few times as a field upgrade and I like it. Not that I would use an upgrade slot on it just yet, though. It has it's problems, and you have to use it in the right setting.
I have heard a lot of complaining in forums about it not being accurate and that has some validity, you *can't* pluck a transport out of the air with one shot as it goes streaking past; you will at best hit it and do some damage but more than likely miss since the transport is moving at a good clip it will be able to outpace/dodge the incoming missile.
However, you get an enemy chopper that is hovering around your base thinking "L0LZ!!! My L33T skilz are PWNing this base!!!", you give me 5 seconds with the SAAW and he is gone. 1st shot hits and takes away 60 percent of his health and as he finally realizes he is targeted, he either:
1) tries to spin around and nail the fixed AA gun/ Walker/ etc. that he thinks hit him and as he spins you hit him with your 2nd round and he's gone
-or-
2) he realizes he is in trouble and tries to escape at top speed away from your position which has some chance as he is now moving fast and it is harder to hit a fast moving aircraft, but the SAAW has great range (WAY beyond visual range) and there is still a mighty good chance you will get 2 or 3 more shots at him before he gets out of range. And there is a very good chance that you will be able to down him even though he has left the area.
As with any BF2 or BF 2142 weapon it has its uses.
If you were one of those people who's eyes lit up when you heard that the M95 in BF2 could shoot through cockpit glass and tried it and then found out that it is very, very difficult to head shot a pilot in a moving aircraft and *then* said that the M95 was a useless unlock, you will likely not like the SAAW.
All I can say is that I really like it and just needed to learn how best to use it. It is not a pwnage weapon but more like a sniper rifle for aircraft. You will need to be patient with it and realize that you will not be leading the kill chart with it when you use it. But in my opinion it is a worthy unlock.

I have unlocked it, mainly as it was one unlock away from the motion mines and I felt like a new weapon. (btw motion mines rock!)
It's great ..when it locks on! Has anyone found that some aircraft will just not lock on, usually transports? Actually its not just with the portable AA. Anyway I'm sure this has been raised before, but I thought I'd point out it happens with this unlock also.. It makes me never bother to use it, as pointed out above air kills are rarer than armour kills, and when it fails to lock half the time it's makes it worse.
I'm hoping after a patch this might be more useful.

When I was playing on Shushia Taiba a couple nights ago our gunship kept gettin shot down due to that Mitchel SAAW 86, the guy who shot down our gunship ended up with 20 kills with the thing. So I'm guessing its good.
Going for it. I need 3 more rank-ups to get it.
I just unlocked it earlier tonight. Thought I would finish off my Engi kit instead of wasting an unlock on a sniper thing.
I now have all the unlocks except for the sniper crap and the squad leader UAV and Acceptor.

Its A Good Unlock, The Only Problem Is, People Bail Out Before You Get The Kills.

I think its crap.
I think it sucks since half the time I cant lock on to enemy transports as they are leaving their titan. I can spot them, but no tone lock.
Against a gunship if they are hauling ass or zipping side to side a lot of the time it will miss.

The mitchell is ok,but i found i would use the default rocket laucher to use when not shooting at choppers.
The pillum is badass the best weopen for the engineer as loonitic said "Its like a railgun on crack" and it is!

It's the best thing to take down aircraft save the Gunships.

I take down gunships no problem with it. It's the transports that give me problems since I can't always lock on and people usually ditch them anyways.
I've found locking on and aiming in front of the gun ship's path help your shots close in for the kill. The only time I have to shoot twice (4 shots) at a gun ship is when the pilot times his countermeasures right (or I shoot too early) and a/the shot(s) hit his shield thing.
If you shoot straight at the gunship, unless he's looking right at you and trying to kill you, the shots tend to circle around the gunship indefinitely. It's pretty funny when you see a gunship fly by with 5-6 rockets spinning around it.

Try joining EU on Suez canal conquest. then go to that hill where u can spawn camp the gunships with the saaw. you should try it out. i got alot of kills by doing that

I love the SAAW it pwns hang off your titan after the shields are down and destroy anyone who comes near. Or better yet, pod onto the enemy titan.
the SAAW is a great weapon and also great in size, so find ya self a spot and cover ya arse with your mines, ive not really tried it out on conquest but for taking down those halo whores who want to take out your AA guns on the titan its great, wait till they hover lock on wait for there shilds to go down the fire x2 and you normally take them down , if ya dont they are so damn far away from there titan to get repairs just follow them and fire again and there dead, ive been doing this a fair bit and didnt relize untill yesterday i got my self upto 200th GR
i use the gunship alot, and i guess i piss people off enough to equipt it out of revenge , because i commonly get hit with it, each rocket does 50 damage, but if you hear the lock-on then the Missile Fired at you tone warning i turn my shields on...
The Mitchell is a nice gimmick, if you're tired of running around from silo to silo for example.
Grab either a support guy in your squad or have your commander provide supplies every once in a while, find a good hiding spot and make life hell for the transport and gunship pilots.
It's a good thing to unlock if there's not much left to unlock.
For general use however, definitely go for the Pilum.

ya the pilum is my main man dude, it owns armour like mad, becuase it doesnt give a lock on i also get titan destructor pins like mad with that thing, i just have my commander give me a supply box. it is kinda hard to hit a talented gunship pilot though, unless he is trying to kill you with rockets...AmbassadorofPain wrote:

Lol i once was alone in the gunship and i took out a tank, but the driver jumped out, i came back for another pass to kill him and he droped me cold with a pilum, lol i learned the hard way to get a guner lol...
BTW have you guys ever noticed that after you get 2 titan killer pins you dont get any points for killing the titan guns?
yes. you can only get the pin twice in a round.
