Here's my rig :

Dell XPS Gen 1 laptop
Pentium 4 3.4GHz
128 MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
1GB RAM

I've had problems before with BF2 with stuttering performance (not lag related), but I was fine all the way up to June. That's where I had problems with BF2 as it got worse and worse to the point to where I couldn't play BF2 anymore.

Now I have 2142 and I'm having similar problems.

Here's a list of things I have tried, as I've searched the forums for tidbits of help throughout in an effort to solve my problem...to no avail

1. I have a dual core processor, so I disabled one of them
2. Set priority to high
3. ATI Tool
4. Clean and defragment hard drive
5. Cleared background tasks (I'm running 35 processes, 27 are system tasks)

is there ANYTHING left I can do...will updating my graphic card driver work?

i have choppy gameplay as well no matter what i try to do, and i have a pretty good rig.  i have the same processor as you so it may be the processor.

Dual Core P4 3.4ghz
512 mb ati radeon x1900xt
2gb ram

it must be the processor being the bottleneck.  what is your average frames per second?

i have done similar things and tried ati tool as well.  ati tool only made it worse.

udating to the latest graphic card driver will always help.
