it was the 1st time i felt guilty for tking a guy...

i was playing on moongamers and my team was always loosing. i saw this one sniper on the hill near the us spawn point. he could hardly see any action from there and he was just chilling there for the whole game. i shot him in the head and he punished me. then he killed me and it went for like 6 games.  next day when i came back to the server i saw him again....i didnt feel good about what happened the previuos day. i wanted to tell him sorry so i started to follow him....and he always kept running from me thinking im coming to kill him..he killed me like 2 times..but i didnt punish him.....then he stopped running away and i said sorry to him like 5 times. "sorry,i screwed up". and i saw him acknowledging by moving his gay ass M95 up and down . that was funny. i felt so good after that.

i dont feel sorry when i come in font of other peoples vehicles and punish me. they do that to me all the time.

did u ever feel guilty?

Isn't it funny how you feel guilty even while playing a video game?

I feel bad for going up for an easy knife kill on an assualt guy prone, staring at a wall, moving occasionally. Then seeing the private first class next to his name, I feel bad for knifing him.
Then now I feel bad for making this huge grammatical error I call a sentence.

I always feel sorry for guys when I eliminate them in groups of 4+. It feels good at first, but then I think about how angry I used to get when I'd get killed back in my young days.

I feel guilty killing groups of 4+ as well, especially if I threw a grenade for it.

However that feeling is suddenly 'elation' when done in a chopper or a gun... don't know why there is a difference...

Don't feel guilty. Instead of apologising you should have TKed him anopther 25 times to make him realise the pointlessness of the sniper kit.

i felt slightly guilty a few days ago playin a couple of rounds.
my psu died so i had to use an old psu that was too underpowered for my gfx cards needs, after first booting up,i had the nvidia message stating "low power, gfx card has been underclocked to a safe level".
i knew it wouldnt be able to handle bf2 on medium settings anymore so changed everything to low/100% view & went & joined a server.
soon as i spawned & noticed how lit up all the alleyways were & how easy it was to see everyone & getting shitloads of kills, the guilt started kicking in,made me feel like a dirty cheat with an advantage over everyone lol.
only played a few rounds though cause gfx looked shit all on low.next day i got a new psu & all's back to medium settings again.

The only time i've ever really felt guilt was i was invited to play a pistols and knives server with some friends from work, and i'd bounced through these things once or twice before when i was more new to the game and i remembered that they're a blast because it's dead even competition and no armor to worry about, or arty.  So i went in there, and it turns out that the guy who had set up the server had set it to where it was 32 person on a large map...so 300 tickets, with a near to ten medics per side reviving everyone.  Every round was probably taking about 2 hours just to finish because he had no time limit set.  I came in there blazing, thinking to score as many points as possible.  Before i knew it, i was at 62 kills with still over 200 tickets left and i'd already busted 100 and then some on points.  So i just stopped playing.  I felt so cheap and dirty that i just said fuck it and left.  I refuse to get points that way.  I come to find out from the guys, that at the end of that round, the guy that had gotten the gold had finished with 702 points.  Could you imagine explaining that as your best round?  Fuckin' bullshit.  I'll take the game as fair as possible, thank you.

think about it for a sec. behind a virtual player is a real person. of course no "killing" involved, but def. screwing someone's fun. virtual platform doesn't mean no feeling at all...

no need for gettin a philosophical approach on that issue, mate..
IMHO its ridiculous to feel guilty for teamkillin a virtual character (of course, after heidegger, there's a "sein" on every human being, ergo a consciousness behind the virtual player).

but the terrific point is: its kind of pathological if a bloke starts to whine about sth. what he did in a virtual space.
he projects his feelings on a video game (sad for him); even then he wrote that he felt even better after sayin' sorry... - thats kind of hilarious...

if there was no feeling associated with a game then why do we play it. we are happy, we feel proud owning 3 or more guys with M117 shotgun. i am not talking about singleplayer game, i dont care how many times i kill the virtual teammate. but in multiplayer its not a virtual character, its actually a guy playing and trying to get some fun.

image a noob guy joins ur baseball team and keep dropping ctches. what will u do? beat the shit out of him and make him go home?

There was a thread called " do you dream about bf2" and it went very long. ok..u say i project my feelings on a a videogame, what do u say about those who dream about this game.

alright, let's skip philosophy mate. what about a physical approach? every contact you (human being) make to the "outside" world in any way is kinda "virtual". if you look at something, the brain will paste and put the picture. call it "projecting". no contact whatsoever is "direct"
"virtual space" is a made up definition. if one moves intentionally and with ideas inside of any space, there's responsibility imho.
of course, the actual "guilt" of taking a teammate down in a game like bf2 will always be relativ. agreed.
i do go mostly with scoobydooby though. being able to really get "inside" of something, in this case you call it 'projecting feelings on a game': that's how children get a clue of the world, that's why humans play games and that is what keeps me young at times especially with broken leg tied to my chair atm.
btw., i think you don't need to bring up heidegger to assume that there's consciousness behind a "virtual" player...
