If you play on a ATI card @ High texture settings like I do, you may have noticed black textures in replace of the correct textures. So certain buildings or vehicles would be a pitch black texture instead of there correct texture. This even happened in the menu and during loading.

I rolled back to 6.7 from 6.9 and now the issues gone. And no longer do I CTD when loading a new map with textures on high. So if your having a issue with black textures, roll back to 6.7

Really?  I have the 6.9 drivers and they work just fine with my machine.  I get the occasional flicker of distant objects, but I can't say I've ever had any graphical trouble with my ATI card.  What card are you using?

Its an issue with the x800 series and Bf2.
X800XL 256Mb GDDR3

And ATI's acknowledged the problem as well and simply told ATI users to run medium textures.

40-60 as infantry...90+ in choppers and planes...50FPS in tanks.
I get very solid performance even with 1GB RAM. I lag for about 3 seconds at start of round and afterwards its smooth. Medium textures give me about the same FPS.

hit the "`" key in-game (Its to the left of the "1" key and above "TAB".
The enter - renderer.drawfps 1

Or you can DL FRAPS (fraps.com)

I have a x850 pro and I don't see those black textures on vehicles or street, and it's on high detail and 6.9 also.

Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Run the ATI- Software Uninstall Utility.
Upon restarting your PC visit this link and download the drivers-

The Catalyst drivers require you to delete the older driver before installing the new one, perhaps you installed the Catalyst 6.9 over the older version.

Try using the OMEGA drivers instead, I've always found them much better than the catalyst crap

I too use 6.9CCC with no problems at all, however Im waiting on 7.0 which hasnt been out (they are about 20 days late ffs) ever since AMD bought out ATI...I bet the support for ATI Drivers are gonna suck, or slower...definately slower

I sometimes get black textures on my nvidia card in BF2. It's a recent thing since I updated my drivers to a Beta set because I was having problems with video playback (everything in fullscreen video was too dark - which turned out to be a driver issue).

Now I occasionally get black patches on screen. It's not like corruption you get from overheating, it's just graphic glitches. I didn't ever see it before 1.4 either.

I use Catalyst 6.5 tweaked drivers, by Omega. They work the best, and are a bunch better than ATi's attempt.
