I started playing BF2 in late December last year. Since that, I have played what *I* would define as "a lot". I play maybe a couple of hours a day. During the summer I nearly play at all, though. I have a job and a girlfriend. She lives in London so we don't see each other that much, which basically leaves the weekends open for more gaming. I have family and friends I try to see when I can and I have hobbies and work out on the side. Still, I can cram in 2 hours+ a day during the week days for BF2.
Now, I wasn't really a stat whore until I discovered this site. I am a decent player - not with the greatest score, but not too shabby either. I have spent A LOT of time as an admin which has resulted in a hard and long walk towards a 1.0 KDR and pushing the SPM towards 2.0. As of late, I have not been admining a fraction of what I used to, which means I have had about 3.0 as a SPM and pushed my KDR over 1.0.
Now, if you look at my stats I have almost 630 hours of play. Say that I hadn't been admining at all and that I had actually played any FPS earlier (I actually bought my first "gaming PC" just to play BF2), I could have sported a 3.0 SPM from early on. Then my score today would have been around 115K. And if I started playing when the game was released I would have around 170K.
So, if you live a "normal" life as a student or if you have a job; how the hell are people able to get scores of 250K+? I just don't get it. That really confirms the stereotype of "gamers don't have a life" or "the last time a gamer saw a vagina was when he was born".
The guy with the highest score in our clan (stats: http://bf2s.com/player/49529957/) has almost 2,000 hours under his belt. And he is unemployed. Is this really the whole deal behind the top players? Do you have to be out of work, on social welfare or just very, very young (which is disturbing itself) to get those scores?
I would really like to hear from those of you with 250+ in score - how do you find the time?
