Anyone else remember when the President was someone to be reveered? When it was still OK to speak your mind if you disagreed with their policies, but it was also pretty much a sin? Does anyone else wish the President was a good respectable person again? I miss the days like when Reagan was in office, I know he had his faults too, but we were all proud to be Americans. And no one messed with America. Seems the last couple of men in the office have turned it into a joke, Clinton with the sex scandal and Bush with his "war". I hope in the next few years someone steps up and returns the office to what it once was. I don't see that in the politicians vying for the position and it scares me. I wish we could stop sending career politicians to make decisions for us, and start sending good people that know what is right and aren't afraid to do it and stand up and say it.
I know a huge part of what is wrong is we're so overloaded with useless information from the media, everyone is looking for a crack to exploit, so most normal people don't stand a chance at ever becoming something great. And we listen too much to what the media says, and we neglect to put our own concerns into who we pick, or we sacrifice because "that's the best we can get" or "they're the lesser of teo evils". We've given up so much. It's almost to the point where we let them decide who we are going to vote for. I am guilty of it too, and I realize that there will never be a politician that meets my approval on all issues.
Sigh... anyone else think along these lines? I'm mostly republican myself (mostly), but I believe more in "the right person for the job". If a great person stepped up and wanted to lead, could you look beyond your own party affiliations and say, "Damn I'm voting for them?"
