Gday,

I was looking into a new video card and spied the ATI Radeon x1650 (512mb) pro, i currently have a radeon 9600pro. Also looking at a x1300
Is the upgrade  of either video card a big change in performance and does anyone know what kind of settings i can get from these cards.

also im looking at  AGP editions.

This is from my guide to buying your new video card, which I recommend you check out (it's a sticky in the Tech forum)

ATI Radeon X1650 Pro
Street Price: $130-$185
Core: 12 pixel shaders (4 pixel pipelines), 600MHz
Memory: 256-512MB, 700MHz
Memory Interface: 128-bit

Starting September 14, ATI will replace its Radeon X1600 XT part with the new Radeon X1650 Pro. The original X1600 XT card shipped for just over $150, and while the Radeon X1650 Pro has an MSRP of $99, street prices have hovered between $130 and $160, pushing it out of the budget category.

So you reccomend the 9800 pro over the x1650 (512)? If so BONUS alot cheaper

x1300 pro isnt good.  X1650 is pretty good.  I couldve sworn there was a 7600agp though.  9800 is old...sm2 i think

X1800 512MB atleast, dont go AGP, you'll notice a difference just by switching to PCI-E, faster loadtimes, and Im sure the X1800 can be OC'd

True, but by the souds of his first post, he's got a mobo which supports agp, not pci-e, and is trying to get a performance gain without the hassles of reformating and such.

get a 7600GS , trust me, x1600 types run extremely hot, and a 512mb  card with 128bit interface is just wasting memory. 7600 is 128bit , but in my experience nvidia probably runs a lot better. My x1600PRO agp runs like crap with the 'newer' games.

you may check out the next page for slighly more expensive ones too... but by looking at this they are saying go w/ the x850 for your price range.  i can find some benchmarks if u really want me to (tho u should b able to find em).

its either the 7 series geforce, or X1K series

only a complete and utter douche would do so, and take people serious in servers, grow up nic, or aquire some logic

Why get a 9550 if he has a 9600? That's downgrading.

Well im looking in the AGP foramt so no need to flame him, he was helping out. So it looks like its between the 7600GT and a X1650 PRO at the moment. ill have another look at prices because that plays a bg part in the card i get. Thanks for the help and info from everyone
