well i had a problem when my old computer had a crap, old mobo in it. it would randomly restart at the most awkward times.

Im not too sure if it is your mobo, coz I just changed mines and it never has done it again.

It's wierd though cuz my comp is only a year old and this never happened before i installed BF2. Do you think it has anything to do wit the new patch?

do you load up the game then it restars/shuts off or does it happen randomly? the game may cause it to shut off becoz of ur drivers, perhaps.

well usally in the middle of du game. sumtimes my comp restarts but sumtimes it just turns off completely.
overheating issues maybe, cuz sumtime my comp turns off right after i exit BF2

does it instantly shut off?  or does it say, shutting down.. and closes everything.

if it does the first its probably a hardware problems.... could b a few different things i guess... could b ram.. and from what that other guy says.. could be mb.   it could be overheating...

sounds like memory possibly... because its unloading all the data from the ram.. and it causes a problem possibly?  if you have extra ram.. u may try replacing it.. or if u have 2 sticks of ram... try using one.. at a time.  one could be bad.. hopefully not both.

also open the case.. just so u know its less likely that its overheating..   unless u have a very good fan system

so you mean i should basically take the case off and leave it while i'm playing?

take the case side off... not the entire case.  but yea my case doesnt have good ventilation, so that helps mine not overheat.  (but really sounds more like a ram problem)

if u really wanna be thorough.. put a desk fan blowing directly in the case...

and i wouldnt b surprised if it was cheap ram... i used to buy cheap ram.. and then i got ocz and my computer is soooo much more stable.

What settings are you running your game at?

And could you post your specs?

I had a similiar problem to yours, I ended up figuring out that one of my gfx settings was more than my

comp could handle with the amount of ram I had at the time.

The fact that you can't turn it back on means it's most likely an overheating problem as others have suggested.

But it could still be other things. It is almost certainly a hardware issue. I can say that much.

Oh, and, welcome to the wonderful world as computers - yep, it shouldn't be doing that after just a year, but, I'm afraid that's how crap computers can be.

download something called memtest86 . Then let it run over night for like 15 hours this will check every bit of your ram and tell you if you have any errors. You shouldnt have any errors in your ram if your ram is working properly. Second go download Speedfan at  http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php This will tell you your motherboard temperature and CPU temperature and Harddrive temperature. What graphics card do you have? What mobo do you have and what ram do u have? Report back with details

If your computer is shutting down after starting BF2 it may be a hardware issue rather than BF2.

Whats the temperature inside your case of your CPU and Motherboard? My old case and motherboard configuration used to shut down after 5 mins playing Guild Wars because of overheating. Do you have system monitor turned on? Whats your temperature thresholds? Check your PCs PSU make sure its functioning on all the rails check the voltages etc.

I upgraded my PC and now when I run BF2 at high quality the temp of the CPU is only 34 and the motherboard 31.

This is SCREAMING heat issue, how often do you clean the inside of your PC? If you're not too keen with computers I recommend taking it to a tech to have them completely clean this machine, even taking the heatsink off cleaning the grilles, fans and adding some new thermal compound.

- Flash your BIOS to the latest setting;
- Update all video drivers;
- Clean your computer inside! (get some compressed air);
- Download SpeedFan and check what all your temperatures are;
- If they are all high, buy some Arctic Thermal Epoxy and put it on!

.. should solve it all.

This is why I recommended a tech, no offense to him but he doesn't seem to tech-savvy.
