Im looking for a new graphics card. The first time I bought one I was only focused on price, not necessarily performance, so that's basicly all I looked for. But now that I have some extra $ to spend, I wanna try and strike a balance between cost and performance. I currently have an Nvidia GeForce 6600, and I wanna get something that will give me a pretty noticable difference and FPS increase. I'm looking at the 100-200 price range.
Alright toxic, I'm going to be honest. If you currently have an AGP setup, your 6600 is just fine. Any AGP card over $125 would just be a plain old ripoff at this point. Since you have some extra money now, I advise that you save it and include it in an investment into another computer next year. I put mine together in late 2004, with a BFG 6800 Ultra AGP. It has lasted fine up till now, but games are beginning to come out that are putting stress on it...and when Crysis is released, it will be completely outdated.
I can't even say that an investment in RAM would be a good idea, but if you have two 512MB sticks and room for another two, try to match that pair for 2GB total. 2GB over 1GB will give you a better BF2 performance boost than going from a 6600 to a 7600.

A Fx5500 will be good and cheap 55$ but 7600GS or x1600 would be best 4 your buck
This post has already been slammed for recommending a 5500 over a 6600, but let me say that the 7600GS would be immensely better than the X1600. Even an X850 Pro would be better than the X1600.
