Ok your going to make your PC Tool kit.....it needs to be fairly small so you can carry it around where ever you go...

List the essential items you think you will need including software

1. Anti static wrist band
2. Set of Jewellers screw drivers
3. Pair of spencer wells
4. Mini pliers
5. Multimeter
6. Cable continuity tester
7. Thermal paste (AS5)
8. Cable ties
9. Multi tool ( Swiss army/gerber/an other )
10. USB HD/pen drive
11. snips
12. Surface Thermometer
13 10 of each spare screws
14. A double AA sized torch
15. 1m Sq material ...laying your stuff on

Windows PE... or Linux live CD

Ok what else

We will sort out a suitable case once we know what to put in it.

I like the glamourous assistant idea but may turn out to be more of a distraction

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Screwdriver... /end

I can't remember the last time I've needed more than that and a brain, I don't think putting a brain in your tool box would be a great idea tho.

if you have the space, a thick-ish cloth.
The first time you lay your nice new case on its side to build, and knock it just an inch and here the 'scratch' as the invisible bit of grit marks the case, you will always put one down.

If lighting is not guarantied, a double AA sized torch.
"bugger, where did that incredibly small but important screw go then?"

Glamorous assistant?
You know, to hold stuff.

OP: I'm glad you brought this up. I'm somewhat disorganized with my stuff at home, and this is the perfect opportunity to come up with a list that, while not comprehensive in the shop/home-level modding or component areas, would be perfect for taking business-to-business and house-to-house.

Post forthcoming.

Don't forget: MacGyver would've included paper clips and double-sided tape.
