What would you do if the only type of Internet connection you could have was 56k?

Personally I would sell my computer and get a new hobby. BF2 online wouldn't exist, it would take overnight to download anything, and you have to use a phone line again.

Wow, how the world has changed now that we have DSL and Cable connections.

If all we had was 56k, we wouldnt know any better.

There would still be a preety large online community, but instead of online gaming and youtube, there would be some other crazy...remember geocities?

EDIT: Now to the topic lol. Ummmm, i would probably still use the internet, but i think like you id probably find some other major interest maybe consoles?

I had a 56k connection until only fairly recently. I wasn't a gamer 'cause my computer couldn't handle games but now, yeah if I was down to 56K connection I wouldn't bother with games. I'd probably not bother with internet either, I'm frustrated enough with my terrible Xtra provider at the moment. NZ and Aus broadband is in the stone age compared to what most of you other guys are used to anyways.

Well, I pretty much do have 56k. I download at approximately 60kbs, and I'm still alive and I'm still here. Takes forever to download something, but I get it eventually. Haven't played an online game since August/September. I play a lot of singleplayer and singleplayer mods... Yes it sucks. Whipee for one LAN connection for the whole bloody university. Bunch of retarted people running the internet here.

Yeah, the only upside I can see to it is having a monthly bill of around $10. When I had the dreaded NetZero Hi Speed my bill was $10 a month. Too bad the "Hi Speed" option was this.

There was a toolbar that you can use to increase the quality of images to make the page to faster or have the quality of the images high, which obviously took longer. What a crock of shit that was. I must say, it was a good marketing idea.

Well my parents wouldn't have any internet at all. during highschool I was using aol and hacking peoples screen names with "punters mail bombs and that such."  Aol found out and banned us from using aol ever again so we got cable and I'm loving it. The funniest thing I ever did was mail bomb one of my teachers after I got an F on one of my papers Lols. I actually benefited from the whole thing by getting cable lol.

Maybe I should reword the question to...

"What would you do if you HAD to change permanently back to 56K?"

This is more appropriate.

I used to play SOFII over 56K. It sucked.

If I had to change back... I would cry... In fact, I'd cry so much Noah would need to get his ark out again...

It would take longer than overnight to download BF2 patches. People still overnight files on DSL.

I meant overnight a a few songs from Napster or something. A BF2 patch would take a weekend or longer, hence you actually stayed connected for that long.

i would probably go back to playing consoles. i never bought a pc for myself til i had cable available.  after buying it i wouldn't touch my mom's pc on dial up cause it just pissed me off. it took longer to download a basic webpage than it took mine on cable to download a song.
