Go For 2 Gbs
I bought 2Gbs yesterday so now I have 3Gbs total. It makes a huge difference, don't hesitate, get the RAM now.

2. Most of the time I am right, because when I don't know something I tend to keep my mouth shut.
3. As I said, the reason you'd use the same CPU in the same system is to properly illustrate the effect(or lack thereof) of CPU speed on performance in-game. Using your method, any component in either system could effect the results. One might have a weak PSU or a dying motherboard, or the other may have shitty RAM or a ton of useless processes running in the background, hogging up resources.

2 gigs is the way to go... also turning off VOIP and EAX helps alot... and turning off dynamic shadows and dynamic lighting... Your proc and graphics are ok... try running on medium also... and to the person that '
said that they run on all high with 1 gig of ram... that cracked me up... thank you...
enjoy your slideshow... lol

Love is the answer
There's a trend I'm noticing. People who care enough about computers and inherently know about their workings and can give advice about the workings of a computer tend to also care about their grammar on forums. Completely unrelated but in a way it makes sense. People like/care about computers and want to promote the image of themselves on the internet with grammar and the lack of lol, jk, noob, stfu, stfu noob, etc etc.
Those that do not know as much about computers and make comparisons about who's computer runs better based on CPU, RAM, and GPU (present but minimal knowledge) do not care about such grammar.
My point is, stillhouse wins.

If your computer seriously doesn't lag while you're on high settings, some kind of miracle is in effect. The reason your HDD is trying to hard to load is 1) it's grabbing the files for the game 2) it's using swap space (page files) i.e Virtual Memory. Your computer's hard drive acts like a generic form of RAM, when your RAM is completly loaded, your CPU starts to gain a queue. The hard drive reserves an amount of space typically managed by winders, but can be user-defined. A lot of RAM never hurt anyone, I would 1) up the size of my VM, and two get some more RAM. It's definitly recommended to get some more for your own sake.venom6 wrote:
Hello everyone !
I need some help with my Bf2.I realized that my VGA can run the game with all high settings without anti aliasing and the game looks pretty awsome with the effects and the shadows. My VGA dont gets overheated so its around 50 Celsius and i got passive cooling.I will still need some lil ram coolings what i can stick on the VGA ram modules because the vga processor passive cooler dont cools that one.
So my main problem is that when i load a map it takes too long and when its loaded i get amazing lag and my HDD is loading like hell.My VGA dont gets overheated..only my HDD is working and working so i get serious hardware lag (whwn my settings are all on high)
I asked myself and some others told me that i need another gig of RAM (now i got only 1 gig)
Do you guys think that would soleve my problem or do i need to set some other settings maybe in windows ?
Maybe 2 gigs of RAM ?
My Pc's specs:
RAM: 2x 512 DDR
VGA: GeForce 6600 GT
CPU: AMD +3200 2 Ghz
Please if you can help me ! And sorry for asking things like this but i really wanna know the opinion from other bf2 players !
Thx !!
I got no AA its on OFF and i guess it setted itself to it after i tried it on 4x AA.
I got an MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard and i got other 2 slots left for RAM.
If I buy another 2x 512 DDR i could not set it on 400 Mhz..only on 333 Mhz.
Its not in dual then so i would have 4x 512 DDR.
Would it run correctly ?

I run 4x512mb Sticks of Corsair XMS TWINX RAM, my system runs GREAT, I get 7k 3dmarks in '06 and 18k in 05. As long as the frequency is the same, the RAM will still use Dual Channel. I think you'll be fine mate, grab some more RAM and you'll be golden.venom6 wrote:

In any case, you missed.
DDR2 is for Intel's too.
RAM RAM RAM, yes ofcourse the more the better, with games and pretty much all software/applications what have you becoming more resource intensive, you need as much as possible. With vista and the rest of it coming, 2Gb will become the new 1Gb, 4Gb the new 2 etc!
For the time being 2Gb will run everything you could imagen pretty well (provided the rest of ur system is up to par and working correctly).
Basically get as much as u can fit in tht thing or as much as u can afford
