I just did this , installed a couple themes and now when i lock my pc / switch user the screen is garbled, but i can still type my password in an then it goes back into windows and everything normal...

however, the login screen is fine wheni log onto windows for the first time, or from standby. this isonly from swithc user/lock pc.

did this uxtheme hack mod do it?

Maybe it's the theme or if you have some custom login screen then it's probably that

Try changing your theme back and see if it helps

EDIT: and use the version 4 not 5 (5 screwed my windows totally)

Tried messing with some themes a few weeks ago. Long story short, I ended up doing a full windows reinstall. Last time I mess with that shit.

Could be the author screwed up somewhere when making the theme, I've seen some crappy jobs out there.

But yeah like tupla_s said, switch to another theme and see if it clears up.

uxtheme hack removes the check for ms only signed msstyles. You probably applied a crappy or unfinished msstyle ... you can .. start in safe mode and disable the "themes" service startup mode, The apply the default theme .. then try another

it sorted itself out after a reboot

and how do i install a new login screen. I have one that was straight forward , just one file .xplogon but some others are just a zip of images and text file and soething else? How do i install those?

First download Logonstudio and then find a login screen you like from here
