hey guys, i just formatted my pc as it buggered up and uit needed it any way. my problem is when i boot up my pc it has to have the xp disk in the drive to boot up, if its not in the drive it says "insert boot disk and press enter". i have a 320gb HD and 2 36gb raptors in raid0 i made a partition of 15g on the raided drives for the OS and installed the OS on to the partition, could that be conflicting with the load up??
Wow 15gb partition for the OS alone, DIZZZZAYYUUUMM that's huge. You only need a MAX of 5 gig mate, and that's stretching it. Anyways, you'll need to check BIOS to see if your RAID hdd's are selected to boot. Check the boot order, and check to see which device is marked as master in BIOS as well. This is just a simple boot issue, once you tinker and figure out which device(s) are set to boot first you'll be golden. Post back with updated information.
well ive rebooted and set it to boot from the HD first and it still comes up saying "insert boot disk", i have the Raided drives first in the HD priority list, ive tried disabling the boot from the cd and only having the HD in the list but it still does the same.
p.s. the onlty thing i have on the 15gb partition is my OS and it tajes up 12gb already, and thats is all i hve on it

Ok here is what I'd do, when you installed the OS was the stand alone HDD connected? I would DISCONNECT the backup drive, and reinstall the OS on the RAID drives again. After the install is complete, hook the spare HDD up again. I'm sure it got cornfused, give that a shot you've done all you could.swedge wrote:

damn, i realy dont wanna reinstall the OS again as its a bitch with the raid drives
