Alright dudes, a buddy of mine wants a new machine, he will keep the 19" LCD, speakers, hard drives, burners, sound card, etc. If you can, give me some wishlists that would do the trick, +1's for good advice.
Basically,
- Board
- Chip
- Vid Card
- PSU
- RAM
Here's one I threw together (I have an AMD 64 3000 he can use with this setup - but it might be a bottleneck for this 8800)
- ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
- eVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail
- OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply - Retail
- CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWINX2048-3200 - Retail
Subtotal: $999.97
Is that 8800 too much card to go with that system?
Should I find something more balanced like a core 2 6400, 1GB ddr2 800...
like this:
- ASUS P5NSLI Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI Intel Edition ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
- eVGA 512-P2-N635-AR GeForce 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
- OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply - Retail
- Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6400 - Retail
- CORSAIR XMS2 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model CM2X1024-6400PRO - Retail
Please point out anything I might have screwed up with, or make suggestions as to substitutions...
(more ram, different card, cheaper psu, whatever)
Thanks,
HJ
