once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
mine should be here today or tomorrow, i went with the evga though

i wonder how much of a jump it would be from a 7950gx2 .. probably not worth the money (for me) @this time .... who all makes them now just bfg and xfx?

If you MUST get a new graphics card then those things are where it's at. But Anyone with an Nvidia 7800GT and above, or ati X1650 pro above, shouldnt really bother. YES it will be an improvement regardless what you have atm, but can you honestly justify $600-800 on a graphics card for the sake of an extra few fps?
If so by all means order your self one
I will be gettin a new computer around march/april, I am waiting to see what ATI's come back is, and by no doubt, other 8 series modles will be available, 8600GT, or maybe some bad boy 8950GTX! (for example)
Since we are still in the Dx9 era as it where for the next few weeks, officially ends around late january, paying all that for a new Dx10 card is not worth it imho.

Long ago, I bought a 6800 Ultra. Prices never really did go down on that card. Fortunately, it hasn't been a dud, though I can now detect visible straining with Gothic III.Kmarion wrote:

Bingo. Especially when all the new stuff is due out in January. I still get over 100FPS in a 64 person server on high, and in other games with Vsync off, i get well over 300 in some of them still. Think ill wait with you.Bell wrote:

bah, evga is gay. the 2 cards i have used from them are ghey. a 78800gtx and a 7900gtx. after playing 8 hours (lol, i know, first time i did good. ) it went to this weird ass screen and it went all fucked up looking. :. 7900gtx did the same, but after cranking it up al the way. i dont know, i have always prefered XFX.

BFG is the way to go. None of that EVGA crap. XFX i cant say but BFG has always been my favorite.
I had to laugh at your statement. All of the 7900 series cards are made in China by Flextronics. They are then shipped to BFG, EVGA, XFX etc. These are the people that "tweak" them and place their own HSF assembly on them. Basically/Fundamentally they are the same. EVGA has THE strongest warranty. Meaning that even if you burn up the card by overclocking, they will warranty it. You can even change out the HSF assembly and NOT void the warranty. NONE of the other manufacturers have this liberal of a warranty.ShadowFoX wrote:

The major PC mags even prefer and recommend EVGA. But, we all have our opinions....its just that some of us are better informed and more educated in matters.
P.S. ALL of the 8800 cards will be made by ASUS...

I actually have one. XFX donated one to a charity LAN I went to and I had the winning raffle ticket. There were some jealous faces in the crowd when that happened. It's pretty damned sweet. I was actually holding off on an upgrade because I'm still paying off my new monitor. Biggest change so far is having the peace of mind that I can throw anything at it and run at the native res of my monitor. I haven't actually benched (3dmark) because there isn't much point. My CPU, an FX-55 (which I also won in a raffle), is holding back my score.
I've somehow done pretty well for free stuff. Bout the only parts I've purchase recently were some hard drives and a new case.
