Hey,

I just bought 1.5GB (3x512mb) of RAM so i can have 2GB total for my computer.
The RAM i bought is 3 x Kingston PC3200 184-pin DIMM

I put all the sticks in the PC without problems because its extremly easy. But when I started up the computer I get some voice saying "System Failure Due to CPU Overclocking" And i havent even touched the CPU at all in its life.

But when I only install 2 sticks set up for Dual Channel it works fine, I've tested each stick of ram by itself and they all work fine by themselves.

My 1st stick of RAM is KINGMAX (Not Kingston) and it looks different, but is basically the same. This stick wont work with the other 3 for some reason.

My motherboard is an ASUS A8V Deluxe, and the book says it can handle up to 4GB. So it should be able to handle this easily. My CPU is a AMD Athlon x64 3200+ (Untouched).

Also When I try to run just the 3 sticks of IDENTICAL ram together I get the same error.

Now, to the questions:

1. How can I get all 4 sticks to work?

2. Do they all have to be identical?

3. Please Help?

1. dont know

2.i think if you want them to run in dual channel they have to be the same. like exactly the same, twins.

sorry i cant help much more, i hope someone eles can help you or i will feeeel sorry for you buying the sticks and not being able to run them propley., if you can take them back do that and sell the other 512 and try and get 2x1024mb pc3200 at 400Mhz  goood luck

That's a difficult one.. I have no idea what could cause this, but I'm suggesting anyway..

I suppose your motherboard has color-coded slots for RAM for which slots work paired? And DualChannel worked fine? Check if your "Kingmax" is a 333Mhz when the rest are 400:s? Although the BIOS would probably clock down all the RAM to 333 in that case, wouldn't it?

What is the setup of the 3 identical RAM:s? Try putting them in slots 1-2-3, maybe that would do the trick?

Upgrade your BIOS.

What would happen if you trash or ebay your Kingmax and get a 4th identical stick (2Gb DualChannel, YAY!)?
I need around tree fiddy.

You must have 4 identical sticks of PC3200 RAM, otherwise the dual channel support won`t work...For 2 sticks at least

many motherboards can be very picky about the ram... its best to have all the same

u normally want to have even amounts... and the same brand

well in therory it should work, but AMDs can be very picky. i would try to set the clock to 333. and you have to switch off command per clock (aka. cpc or put it to 2t). also putting in the timings of the ram manually instead of leaving them on auto might help

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

actually at one point i had 3 gigs of ram, one stick was not the same as the other 2.  I had alot of weird problems (trying to compile videos mainly)  and it was because of that stick of ram.  And when i took it out and had only 2 gigs... i noticed no change in loading/ whatnot.  In fact i think it slowed it down sometimes.

Does your motherboard support up to 2GB?

It supports up to 4GB.

I'm gonna give the store a call and see if they can fix my problem. If not. Then ask for a refund and sell my 512 stick and buy 2 x 1Gig sticks.

--OR--

Sell my 512 stick to a friend and buy an identical stick.

P.S. Thanks for the support guys, much appreciated

Different RAM frequency's cause issues, I recommend getting all matching RAM mate. The least you can do is pair up the matching freq's to the certain channels. say you have 2 sticks of kingston and 2 stick of corsair. Stick the corsair in bank1 slot 1 the other corsair in bank 2 slot one. then the kingston will go in bank 1 slot 2, the other stick bank2 slot 4. So at least the channel's will operate on the same frequency, as opposed to having them mixed.
