Ok, so, I'm sitting here trying to decide wether to upgrade my pc or not, so unlike me as it is I'm getting a few more opinions.

Current PC

Athlon 3200+
2GB Corsair DDR400
ATI x800XT PE 256MB


Things to buy

C2D E6600 2.4GHz
Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

I have 1GB of Corsair DDR2 1066MHz (2x512MB obviously) stuff that got sent to me by mistake in an order i made about a month back so thats not costing me anything.

So is there any point upgrading? My PC dosn't struggle with much but it's not the effortless master of all it surveys that it used to be..

You will be ready for the onslaught of software that will hit us next year with vista and other new technology with those upgrades.

It's a bit of a sting in the wallet this close to christmas but I think I will...

Looks like dads gettin socks this year

Hopefully it wont kill my old 500w PSU lol, actually thinking about I think I'll need one for the graphics card, I dont think its got the right power connectors on it >.<

I think 480 is the min but i'm not 100 percent check nvidia's site. The card will come with the adapters but there are 2..lemme take a closer pic of mine to show you...

I just stuck my head in my case and its actually a 550w, but just standard connectors on it.

So basically it just eats up 4 molex connectors, i think I'll be getting a new PSU, Ive got like 4 doublers in there already for the plethora of fans I'm running lol.
