Yea Australian internet deep throays it fairly hard, i used to be on the telstra 200 mb plan.......................................FUCK THAT!
Why does it suck so much ass down there? Could it be because you guys are on an island in the south pacific? Jk, it's probably still better than my assplug provider comcast, 6MB down, <200 Kbs up...
Telstra owns a small cable network here, my current plan is about $NZ70/month(AUD60) for 4mbit, and a 20gig cap...go over the cap and its $3 for every extra 2gig you use...most people use DSL tho...
Isn't standard ADSL capable of up to 8mbit? A few years ago I had a 128kbit flatrate plan, but occasionally Telecom's rate limiters would break and I'd get full-speed flatrate ADSL for a few days

What's with the minister? She keeps telling everyone there's nothing wrong with Austrlia's broadband, and yet it's probably one of the slowest in the Western developed countries! For such service, the prices are far too high and the connections aren't always reliable.
I know someone who works in a hospital radiology section, and he often complains that with the large files needed to be transferred every day, the internet is just not up to it. Sometimes it's easier to physically transport the file.
My cousins took one glance at our internet speed and scoffed, saying theirs was way faster for a much smaller price.
Also, Telstra's internet customer service is crap. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Ah, heh, sorry, just a little annoyed at the crap speeds available in Australia. I need some sedatives. Still, anyone else feeling the same way?
lolz @ I.M.I

I ping <10ms to 'Node BF2 serverskontrolcrimson wrote:
For all those Aussies, go Internode adsl2+ $60 a month, and 20gig limit, but with full speed gaming on their servers.
Ping between 15 and 20 to their CSS servers.
That's because you guys haven't found good deals, switch to TPG, ADSL2+ is 49.95 per month with 18GB download limit, although it suffers from speed drops if you're really far from an exchange, but it's worth it I guess. This is in Sydney btw.
We don't have T3 available for residential use as far as I know, we have T1 though. Is adsl2 T3?

ADSL2 is not T3. They are different, T1 and T3 is better for lans whilst ADSL is better for individual internet. But in the end, no Cap > All.
