Help, BF2142 is lagging soo bad

First off, if you hate the game fine, go somewhere else, don't post it here cuz I need help.

Ok,
So BF2142 is lagging sooo bad. I'm using the same rig as when I was using BF2 that is:

AMD Athlon 2100+
Some kind of Mobo
1GB DDR
Ati Radeon 9800 pro 256mb
80 GB Harddisk

Yes I know its an old crappy rig, so don't tell me to upgrade, I've allready found a decent upgrade but haven't got the money yet, but that is off topic.

My question is, how come that when BF2142 and BF2 are using the same game engine, that BF2142 on low settings on a 32 man server with a ping of 20 causes SOOOOO much lagg, while I can play IO with Terrain, Geometry, Effect on high, lightning on medium and shadows on low in BF2 with a ping of 110 without any sort of lag.. HOW THE FUCK IS THAT POSSIBLE?!! IT's FUCKIN annoying since sometimes I feel like playing this game but then when I have played for 15 laggy minutes that feeling is gone. BTW I'm talking about normal Conquest 32 man, not Titan. I think when I will go play Titan mode that my PC will die.

Pls can anyone help me? I've shut down any background tasks, only the neccesary ones are running and sometimes TS, but that doesn't seem to be the problem..

I wouldn't actually blame your comp tbh.
As of lately, I notice severe lag on various servers, regardless of the game mode.
It could be that EA is messing around with new server-side-only-patches...

Well guess the game works different on each system, My Bf2142 works better than BF2

I'm having issues aswell. I can get around 60-80 fps ave on full settings in bf2, but I'm struggleing with a measly 30 (barely anything on screen) in 2142 with full settings. and it drops to around 18 fps when I lower the settings.

dont run it on high.... i have just about the same specs as you except i have a 7800gt and i play on medium at about 50FPS on average

I'd have to say that it prolly isn't your computer. I'm thinking it's servers.
My computer is crap and 2142 runs better than bf2.

I have been kicked for high ping yet when I look at my ping... it says it's 25-30. So, I'm guessing either there are still bugs in the game and/or crappy servers or picking a server that is very far away. Either way... I don't get it.

Ok, if that is the problem than I hope EA will do something about it, or I will just have to wait till I have some money and buy my new rig

well i my pc is pretty much the same as urs and it runs conquest mode just fine, but it lags quite a bit on titan servers
