Just patched Bf2142 to 1.05 and once again, my frame rates have gone to hell. I have a Pentium D running @ 3GHz. 2 Gb RAM. x1900xt video card. Latest drivers from ATI.

I was playing the game before on medium @ 1680x1050 and would get an average of 40 fps easily, 30 on the titan. Now I can't get over 30 on the ground, and on the titan it all goes to hell. I did some quick FRAPS benchmarks which you can see below. I have everything on medium, with NO AA. 1280x1024 resolution.

- Chilling on the titan waiting for gunship
2006-11-22 02:22:43 - BF2142
Frames: 1498 - Time: 33605ms - Avg: 44.577 - Min: 29 - Max: 61

- Flying around killing enemies
2006-11-22 02:23:27 - BF2142
Frames: 2164 - Time: 51633ms - Avg: 41.911 - Min: 16 - Max: 70

- Ground assault
2006-11-22 02:25:22 - BF2142
Frames: 2164 - Time: 51633ms - Avg: 32.212 - Min: 20 - Max: 55

- Titan assault... OM- FUCKING-G
2006-11-22 02:38:40 - BF2142
Frames: 918 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 15.300 - Min: 10 - Max: 20

This just seems ridiculous, considering AA is off and the resolution is a medium one. Anything I can do to improve this? Anyone know of any other drivers I can try? And is this a hardware problem... or could is it normal for everyone.

My twin 7800GT COs can't handle the titan at any respectable speeds either. Maybe not that low, but definatly 2/3 - 1/2 the framerate on the ground.

Ok that's a bit refreshing to know. But ok, this is even more ridiculous... I turned down res to 800x600, and put all settings low. Here's the benchmark.

you sure you weren't recording at the same time?
maybe have the benchmark button and recording button al mapped to the same.

Ok I installed the latest ATI drivers (6.11) and updated DirectX and that seemed to help somewhat. I was able to get 45fps average @ 800x600 low!!!

But so here's the weird thing, I turned my settings all the way up to high, and changed the resolution to 1400x1050, and here's the benchmark:

- On Ground
2006-11-22 04:49:52 - BF2142
Frames: 1497 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 24.950 - Min: 19 - Max: 36

- On Titan
2006-11-22 04:53:51 - BF2142
Frames: 1102 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 18.367 - Min: 11 - Max: 26

Seems like my video card doesn't like displaying anything other than default resolution... (@ 1400x1050 it displays black bars instead of stretching the screen).

Is there any way to force 1024x768 to appear on my monitor, not stretched, but centered with black bars around it? Maybe that will help make things look better.

yes. truth.

btw mex, i had the same problem. on my 19" monitor i was playing medium on 1024x798 and was getting like 18 fps in heavy combat, and i was like WTF? then i saw a post about native resolution and that the video card doesnt have to think about where to double fill pixels and such, and turned it up to 1280x1024 all high and now i dont below 35 fps.

try ur  native reso and all high and see how it does.

*my above story was on bf2 not bf2142.
