Recently i have been having problems with my internet, it keeps losing connection all together, then it decides to start working again 10 minutes later, i have AOL uk which until now has been fantastic so dont say aol sucks when in reality it dont, my modem just keeps droping off so can anyone tell me what i can do to sort this problem?

And on another note, my parents may be switching the ISP to TalkTalk so can anyone here tell me if they are any good of a waste of time?

Well if your parents are switching ISPs, you should ask them what connection they are getting. I myself have a Comcast 8 Mbps Down 768Kbps Up connection and that does me fine.

I'm on AO-HELL mate and no it's not as bad as people make out.

I was originally on 2 meg but I know that recently they have been upgrading the lines so if you speed has recently been increased it may be that the modem hasn't managed to negotiate an optimum speed yet and this might be causing the drop-outs. If this is the case you need to leave you modem permanently connected to AOL for say 24 hours and if it does drop out it will adjust the speed to acheive the best results.

The other alternative is that your DSL filter could be dying, or your set up of filters isn't correct. Have a look at your filters and make sure there are no conflicts with other devices. If that's okay, try replacing the filter with another and see if that helps. I was getting drop-outs a while back after I moved my PC and the problem was every time sky dialled into the sky box cos I'd messed up where the filters were.

please don't go to talk talk. i signed up with them and had no isp for 3 weeks and they are still sending me bills for a service i never received. i feel so strongly about this i registered instead of lurking in the background and watching you make a grave mistake.I'm sure they must have some happy customers but i have never met one I'm with tiscali now and they have been great

Hi,

First of all, by loosing connection, do you mean, between your machine and the modem/router or from the router/isp ?

Now, Talk Talk.... mmm... isn't it the one that promised loads of things, takes months to get it, and its absolute rubbish???

I´ve got sky broadband, which works great. 16MB download 780KB upload. No problems at all.
