Well, basically on Jalalabad I do nothing else but rushing back with some teammates, destroying scan and UAV. The G36C is a damn reliable weapon in combat also, so on such maps, enemies shouldn't take this as an offensive.

On maps with fixed spawnpoints like Karkand, however I usually don't travel all the way back, since the efforts are not worth the outcome as long as the enemy commander actually cares for his team and his assets.
Nevertheless, one time I went back as a squad leader into the enemy base and destroyed scan and UAV, knifed the commander, picked up the medic kit, made some evil base raper kills until the tank spawned, my squad member spawned in the tank, jumped out and took the APC. As we approached the USMC lines at the other spawnpoints, without any intention to kill them off the spawn but let them run against an armoured wall of cavalry, we were kicked for "stealing vehicles".
Well, inability of enemy commanders and tactical warfare isn't always appreciated, it seems.

Good Job again.
You're right, don't see much of spec ops guys taking out the assets nowadays. spec op + ammo guy running around base around taking out comm toys will really get the comm cheesed off. imho, UAV is the most important, the most legit wallhack. one countermeasure is for the comm to spawn as sniper and claymore the most important assets, i remember the days when a sniper could lay 5 claymores at a go :-).  usually the spec ops follow a similar path of operation and claymores usually gets them really discouraged. plus point - sniper rifle can take out the intruders at long range.

the vast majority of bf2 players are pretty much point & stat zombies that just wants as many points as possible and don't give a shit about the team, therefore you'll get bitched at for things like these

for some reason just general bitching is very common, you can be a jet/tank/g36e/ak101/c4/revive/medic/supply/grenade/claymore/baserape/launcher/artillery/heli-whore, the list goes on and on, heck i've even been accused of being a knife whore.

bottom line; have fun, play fair and don't give a shit about what others think

I will almost always try to blow arty first since I seem to have an arty magnet attached to my backside.  Also, of all the commander's assets, arty is the only one that can directly kill you or your teammates.  After that goes UAV since enemy troops can see that, and then the scan trailer.  You get two "team work" points for each asset you blow up.  Be careful on how much base raping you do while in the enemy main.  If it's an uncappable base than you are only allowed in as Spec Ops, and only with the intension to blow up assets and get out.  Most servers will kick for base raping if you just hang out and kill enemies as they spawn in.

Pretty much anything someone says to you in-game is worthless.  Play how you want just don't be a total dumb ass.  Don't tk (team kill) for vehicles, if someone else gets a jet you want, don't block the runway, don't punish someone for accidental team kills (like when you walk in front of a car that you didn't see coming.)  Fairly simple (usually unwritten) rules to follow to ensure everyone has a good time.

One other thing...we don't call it "WoBF2" like someone else suggested.

I have no idea how many times I've been punished for stupid sh*t that wasn't my fault. Like while turning around in a buggy some guy comes screaming over a hill, hits me in the side. Punished! I've only punished once iirc, and that was some stupid guy who looked straight at me and shot me right between the eyes. I wasn't even waiting for a vehicle or anything. All the other cases has been me scaring the crap out of someone as I come running around a corner or me jumping on some nade some guy threw way ahead of both of us. My bad....but please revive me though

Good on you for taking out the UAV, it was probably the enemy commander calling you names the little cry baby. I used to get in the F35 just to take out the UAV on wake.

That really is pathetic. Still, its Karkand...anythings possible

use your spare packs, especially on karkand midgame when the US engys are all pushed forward - put one on an arty gun passing thru as well as 2 on the uav and 2 on the scanner - boom...2 yellow icons light up and the last thing he thinks of is a damaged gun.

If/when you get shot, next run use your spare c4 on the same arty gun, 2 on the other arty and 2 on the uav and this time commander loses THREE pieces in one click of your thumb.

Careful management of that extra pack can give you that extra bit of time to get back and rinse his kit out some more.

When people on the other team start bitching about stuff your doing, that usually means your doing a good job. It's not bad form to attack the UAV. Just like any other online game there are a lot of assholes out there, you just happened to find one from BF2

I apologize in advance for kinda changing the direction but my question kind of falls under the same category & I still have some n00b in me too. First of all I always take out enemy assets & while I'm there I try my best to knife the enemy commander too although if he's not in direct sight I'll run away as soon as my surgical explosives strike is complete.
Now my question, I was flying a blackhawk by myself trying to get to a flag on the far end of the map (can't remember which one though) & I saw a sniper standing on a rooftop trying to shoot me out of the cockpit so I landed the blackhawk on his head & then took off again, continuing my mission. I thought it was a bit weird because he just stood there & looked at me while my 10 ton chopper was coming towards him & as soon as I killed him he started yelling at me (i assume he was yelling because he was typing in caps ) that I'm a n00b & a bitch for doing this to him. Was he just mad because he got road killed by one of the slowest vehicles in the game or was my attack bad form?

nothing wrong with blowing up assets. gets you points and slows the other team down a bit.

magiktrik: he's just bitter you killed him with a blackhawk, it's not out of line. i get run over by its counterpart in 2142 occasionally too. nothing worse that that.
come to think of it, i roadkilled someone on a hill once with a blackhawk, in wake. he was running, didn't see me coming, so i figured, 'Why not?'. i proceeded to hit him from the side and bounce him into the water. funniest thing i've seen in awhile, and i couldn't believe i connected with him without hitting the hill.

LOL! think he was the n00b, killed by having a BH squat. Not bad form dude. +1 for you. As a full time comm, I don't like n00b wannabe snipers on my team, you taught him a lesson.

another good thing about doin this, on maps where the assets lie in an uncap area, some commanders hide out like lil bitches here, usually stuffed in a corner lyin on their stomach, engrossed in their commander options menu.  this=ez knife kill for an extrememly pissed commander w/o assets.

big thing about it is that most players that spawn back there will be engineers, 80% of which wont have the MP7, so they'll be very close range with a shotgun, ez to fend off....especially if ya stole their tank or had the foresight of using the supply drops added C4 to booby trap their armor.

I dunno why everyone was calling you a noob. Unless your team had no flags at the time and were relying on you to cap something for them to spawn at. I normally don't worry about assets unless they're at a captureable flag and won't be immediately repaired. Otherwise you just wasted your time traveling there IMO. You didn't used to get any points for destroying assets and ppl still did it because it's tactically advantageous. My feeling on kark is that it's basically pointless since it takes a little bit to get back there and either the cmdr is back there as engie or an engie is spawning in for armor anyway. So, it's never down long enough to have much effect.

Pump Shotty FTW! I'll use my pistol at range as an engie rather than give up my 12 gauge for the peashooter. I might use it as MEC but I <3 the pump. Also if you find a cmdr with no scan up sitting in the commander menu he's either afk or you caught him in the 2 secs it takes to drop supplies.

Blow the stuff up.  Don't listen to those who feel that UAVs are necessary to win or that a good commander will instantly repair it.  Blow it up. Run and hide and when the commander sends in a supply crate to repair, rearm yourself with it and blow both the UAV trailer and the supply box up.  This keeps the commander blind and keeps him committed to providing supply crates for repairs that could be used elsewhere.  Its sound tactics plus you will earn your demo badge in now time. Forget what the others say, they just like to kill and maim other players.

if someone calls you a "boyloving noob" for doing that... theyr just hiding their own "boyloving noobness"... keep doing it.. in fact if you got the time and patience and motivation to piss them off.. ask for a box.. and sit there and wait for repair and blow it up over and over and over and over till they get so angry they blow up like a panata

UAV/Scan/ARTY can be the difference between win/loss in close games.. you'd be stupid not to go blow it up... them not having their toys lets you sneak your way to flags, or take out enemies that don't see you coming.. or sneak up and shank the commander and have a good laugh about it.. so keep on doing it

It is almost always a good idea to blow up assets. When play inf. on Karkand it is not worth it and maps like it.
on the other hand, it is much irritating, when being commander, and some1 blows up your assets.

Always take out UAV first, then Scanner, and last Artillery. Try to blow up as much you can at once, so that the commander don't notice you.

Not bad form.  Not noobish.  Blowing enemy assets = teh win.

Enemy team probably full of whining snipers, can't kill anything without advance warning of who is coming over the hill at them.  As others suggested, you could probably stay there for a while, waiting for enemy CO to drop a supply box.  Get five new C4, lay them, get five more...blow it all.  Hide out, wait for another box.  If you're on Karkand, next move is to blow the bridge (only takes 3 if you do it right), and pretty soon you will have capped the Gatehouse and blown all enemy assets by yourself.

I do this all the time, I obviously don't give a rats ass about spm.  We used to do it when blowing UAV got no points too.  It's not bad form to neutralize the enemy CO.
