Lucid Dreaming sounds incredable, I don't recall any myself, but do recall many dreams themselves.  I used to be a big sleep walker too.  I actually remember being awake, but in a dreaming state.  Kind of the opposite of lucid I guess...

^ For me, smoking pot eliminiates dreams (or just cant recall them) as soon as I gave up, and went to sleep straight, I started having dreams again.. it's awesome. Dreams > Smoko.

i have these types of dreams often. usually near the end of dreams im like "wait a second, im dreaming" like the post above me, i am able to wake myself up on command by "twitcing" my eyes. when i realize im dreaming, its totally awesome. i can fly, walk through walls, anything i want, and it feels so real. when im falling i FEEL like im falling, its so realistic. i can imagine i had a gun and go on a rampage, then go invisible and teleport to another country. its so awesome.

my most recent "nightmare" was that some of my friends and i encoutered some invisible aliens. i dont know about you guys, but aliens freak me out. so i imagined i had a piece of paper, and started waving it around me. before i knew it, it hit like 5 of em no more then 2 feet away from me, so i imagined i had a scar 11 and just started owning them. still felt scared of out my mind when i woke up because it felt so real.

I had one once. I was chasing a giraffe up a winding mountain for a pot of gold. (real. not joking) and  said, "hey, this is my dream!" and i flew to the top of the mountain and got the gold... then i woke up.

Also, i have also had a dream and then the next night have a dream almost the exact same but with minor details changed, and each night it would change. I cant remember what it was.

Also, I cant remember the last time i had a dream either....

The second I saw this thread I jumped in my seat, now I can't sit down because of all the shit I've read dealing with Lucid Dreaming.

The thought of controlling your dreams as described by all of this stuff has made me all giddy.

Lucid dreamers develop a frame of mind that allows them to recognize when they are dreaming. From that point, they are free to do as they choose. This freedom, hard to imagine in our highly constrained waking reality, is astonishing, exhilarating, and inspiring. The laws of physics and society are repealed. The limits are only those of the dreamer's imagination.
Doesn't work.
I am frequently aware of the fact that I am dreaming but am still unable to change any laws of physics or anything. It sucks and is very irritating. It makes me go: "What do you mean I can't fly? This is MY DREAM DAMMIT! I should be able to fly " But no, it doesn't work.
Actually, it says on the site that it varies from person to person, and on your assumptions. as I said in the OP I have had one of these dreams before and was able to do anything I wanted, which I'm sure needs no further explaining
I believe i used to have these when i was younger, i could like lift shit heavy stuff up and go whereever i wanted instantly.

I once had a dream that my father, my brother, and myself were in a jail cell in a big jail. Then some guys in these badass black combat suits came up to us and open fired on me. I got shot from the tip of one hand, across my chest, then up my other arm and ended at the tip of my finger. I looked at my dad and said "I'm dead", he said, "I know". Then I woke up and felt a pinch at my finger tip where the last bullet hit.

Whenever I dream I am always aware that it is a dream.  I was once driving round in an Aston Martin Vanquish, ironically my 'dream' car, and I was gutted to know that it wasn't really happening.

However I occasionally can alter what happens in my dreams.  Sometimes it doesn't work, and if it doesn't I  wake up.   But sometimes whilst in my sleep I can dictate what happens in my dream, and I know that I am doing so, so is this Lucid Dreaming, or does, because I am aware of it, make it not the case?

Its a weird phenomenon, and I think it illustrates how amazingly complex the human brain is.

perhaps off topic a bit, but i remember getting told that if u die in ur dream u die in real life, as in u die then and there in ur sleep, i've never actually died in my dreams, always woke up just b4....

often have 'deja bu dreams' used to think i was psychic till i thought better of it, would have a dream, 2 days/weeks/months/years it would happen exactly as it did in the dream.

Actually I re-read the authors post and realised that what I do sometimes is, in fact, Lucid Dreaming, so that was a stupid question to ask.

But do any of you other 'Lucid Dreamers' find that when you try to alter your dreams and cant do so, you wake up?

This kinda happened to me once. I went to bed thinking about my sister's birthday the next day, and it was really wierd - in my dream i was having a conversation, and somehow i managed to figure out the dates didnt match (i was aware in my dream my sister's birthday was the next day, yet it wanst so in the dream). From there i kinda clicked that i was dreaming... odd.

Also, just not as strange, everytime im about to die in a dream (ie get stabbed / fall off somewhere etc.) i always manage to just know to squeeze my eyes tight, and wake myself up before i meet my maker, but i duno if this is something that happens to everyone, as im pretty sure you're not meant to die in a dream.

Anyway this sort of stuff happens to me, my common sense just kicks in in the middle of dreams and I realise it's a dream but I don't wake up. Like if something happens in a dream I don't like I can just ignore it and it goes away like a scene transition in a movie.

The coolest times are while I'm dreaming I'll be like shit don't start thinking about stuff that scares you and then BAM the worst nightmare you can possibly imagine (literally), and even though I know I can stop it there's that little part inside of you that wants to scare yourself shitless so you just keep dreaming it until you wake up covered in sweat and shaking all over. But then a few seconds later you realise what a rush it was, get a big smile on your face and go back to sleep

Like it matters? Lucid dreaming hasn't changed dramatically in the past year so it's still discussion worthy.

I tried it a few times in the past, but I'm prone to insomnia so I have a specific routine for sleep that I like to stick to.

I dreamed I was in Jurasic Park (the scene in the movie where the eggs are hatching raptors) and I knew it was a dream, I remember thinking this is impossible cause dinosaurs are extinct. I thought wow I'm dreaming I can do anything I want. Then thought nah this is okay I'll watch. Then I immediately woke up.

There's been a couple times where it felt like I had control of a situation.

They almost always end up naughty though.

Haha, I seem to do that too. I'll be well aware I'm dreaming, then it goes into a nightmare and I can try and tell myself to open my eyes but I just won't. It's really weird. Dreams are amazing tbh.
