uh so you can compare the diferences, dx9 isnt as realsitic in the first picture but it looks better in the 2nd pic. dx10 looks a lot better in the first pic and the next pic looks a lot more realistic, dx10 is just more realistic

damm, i guess when crysis comes out i'll have to upgrade (read throw everything except the case away) again. cant tech progress slower. its making me broke.

anyhow. dx10 does look a lot better

u cant upgrade to dx10 on xp as its for vista only

unless off course you are updating to vista

which comes out january 30th 2007

and the differance is that directx 10 only utalises your hardware drivers instead of usin the crappy windows ones so the quality is better

Lets say that I upgrade to Vista, that means, im dx10 capable right. But how can I tell if my video card supports dx10?

you buy a new one. there are only 2 dx10 cards out there, and by the time vista is released, dx10 will have already been upgraded=no point to buy one now. hell, im not even gonna buy one till NEXT Christmas...

i think thats an unfair comparison. i dunno, unless i'm being stoopid, but isn't the dx9 screenies done form a video (bu the looks of it) and the dx10 ones aren't?

i may be wrong.

but, even so, dx9 still looks good

Not true. XP SP3 will add support for DX10.

That's not the only difference, either.

i agree. A lot of things made available, designers don't even use right away (i.e. branching shaders in 9c)
