Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam are alive and well

I thought I'd take a break from BF2 for a while... and so I've installed BF 1942 and Vietnam, and both are still really cool games to play online. 1942 has several good servers, with regular players, and so does Vietnam. I never really compared BF Vietnam to BF2, but if Vietnam had featured ranks, unlocks, better online support, etc, I'm pretty sure I would like it more than BF2. IMO it just has a better feel than BF2, and it's the only "good" Vietnam war game on the market. I wish there were more....

I had one round in BFV where I was an American sniper the whole time, and I would move around this campsite in the Operation Hastings map, sniping VietCong. It was just so fun, and although it's alot different from BF2, it's a nice change in pace and gameplay. (The graphics in BF Vietnam aren't bad, either) Anyway, both games are still alive and well, and if you have them, but just don't have them installed, I'd highly recommend you get them up and running. It really is a nice change, especially if you're getting tired of BF2, 2142, or whatever other game you play regularly.

I have 1942. I don't really like Vietnam. Bf1942 still rules though, Dogfighting in that game is second to none, (that I've played anyways.)

I haven't downloaded DC, though I've heard it's good. I just don't want to spend an hour DLing it and then discover that there are no servers running it...

if u like 42, dl the desert combat mod and go play *=sas=* lost village, im in australia, but i put up with the 200+ ping i get just to play their.

best admin'd and least buggy of all dc servers.

It was fun for the time {1942} & I'm sure there is still a lot of players for it. BF:V was a disappointment to me & I dropped it shortly after buying it & went back to 1942.

BF2 has improved on everything in my opinion, except the classic dog fights with the old planes, that was some fun shit over coral sea when you actually had a team defending the carrier.

There was another post about this topic a little while ago. But anyways, bf1942 will still be alive in years to come. Dogfighting in that game also required some skill, no locking on, you had to lead the shots. I would recommend Forgotten Hope, a few populated servers still left, very fun mod.

I like how "smooth" BF42 looks even without AA. Especially the trees and shit, compaired to BF2 trees which look shit even in 4XAA.

Some people download Battlefield Pirates for 1942. That mod is on the verge of extinction. Yes the dogfighting is excellent in 1942. Battle of Britain, baby! Vietnam had the best ground combat and the music feature was nice. Also the napalm and MiG-17s were fun. I need to go get my M40 or M91/30 now...but EA Games have never made a game with a good sounding .45. In both of these, it is more of a firecracker or popcorn "pop" sound.
Also, the manual artillery was nice since it took some doing to hit the target.

Aside from Road Rash, BF1942 is still EA's best game.
