I was referring to the city maps. Also, every game of Sharqui I've played, the MEC snipers are safe for about two minutes before the US guys charge over there (especially on IO) to get kills on the MEC guys. TV station - Construction site is mainly sniper battles, I've never been sniped in that area. Sharqui and Mashtuur city are generally the only city maps I've seen people sniping on with any degree of success.Todd_Angelo wrote:
ROFL, doesn't happen? Sure you don't want to qualify that?greenhaven wrote:
...as I have pointed out many times by now, since most games are played on city maps, combat over 100+ meter distances doesn't happen.
I can't believe you actually said that, Sharqi's your favourite map! I'm going to have to presume, for your sake, that you just don't know the range to the TV station from Construction Site (100-140m), or near City Entrance to the hillsides where the MEC snipers mostly start out (150-180m).
Sure on Kark and Mash the haze limits long-range viewing conditions but you can't just dismiss Wake, Dragon Valley, Daqing Oilfields, Oman, FuShe, Clean Sweep, Zatar and Kubra out of hand in terms of infantry play, and on those maps draw distance is the limiter for most people, not haze.
SF? Surge and Iron Gator definitely aren't restricted to below 100m. Mass Destruction and Ghost Town you can see targets well enough to shoot at over 120m (depending on silhouetting); Warlord's limited to around the 100m mark, normally.
Sharqi and Mashtuur are the only city maps for sniping success?
You are aware of SF? Karkand? Jalalabad?

greenhaven, if you take this comp with angelo, your gonna get your ass handed to you on a plate. if you take on any competant sniper, the result would be the same.

The only time the sniper kit is used on Karkand is to toss clays. Jalallalbad has snipers at the beginning, but once you get inside the city, you're better off playing as something.Ekfud wrote:

no. Last week or so -- me = gold medal 3 rounds in a row. BR (never really having played jalalabad before, mind you) = 67 points. (IO). Not bad for a sniper. Esp Jalalabad, where, being MEC, we only ever had one CP. My game consisted of me sneaking past the 'frontlines' so to speak, camping a roof until they never spawned their, then capping it. (Yes I just said snipers cap bases gasp!)greenhaven wrote:

EDIT: O yeah -- clay kills = 0.
EDIT: Playing as something? Good snipers at beginning, but once inside 'city limits', i need to play as something??? (i know what you meant)

Yes I saw that, unlike killer I can actually read LOL That's why I said "...but you can't just dismiss... [these other maps] out of hand in terms of infantry play."greenhaven wrote:

Well that can certainly happen but I've played the map six-and-a-half times more than you have... mostly normal, where you also have to contend with strafing from the Cobra... and a good set of players there can hold off USMC assaults while covering the MEC attack. You need to play more with people of the class of Chillin&Killin, Clean.Sweap and a few of his clanmates, see what they can do sniping in that situation.greenhaven wrote:

The worst thing MEC players can do is spawn only there and adopt a defensive mindset from the get-go, that way lies an endless standoff and defeat.
Never? Man, are must live a charmed life. I've gotten maybe 15 kills and a bunch of kill assists without leaving Construction Site at the end of a game alone.greenhaven wrote:

I don't know how you define success but either you've never noticed or you need to play more with guys who know what they're doing with the sniper kit.greenhaven wrote:

Oh please, could you please stop with the sweeping pronouncements of what the sniper kit is used for? I don't spam clays in high-traffic areas for an entire game (I will do it sometimes when the need arises) and most days I can get a better KPM than the bulk of players using automatic weapons.greenhaven wrote:

Here, let me show you something: http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1927 … 315ii7.jpg
See if you can guess why K|ller had so many kills but such a sucky KDR, and why I have more team points. The kit does not have to be used in just one way!
Disagree all you want, doesn't make any difference to what will happen one way or the other. And given my accuracy generally runs about 5-8% higher than yours and I've sniped long enough to get expert on two accounts I can't imagine why you think at any range someone with a 0.6 KDR with assault rifles is going to do better... but then we already know you're not exactly big on impartiality.killer21 wrote:

every excuse to bitch and make a post about it..
what kit they use is none of your business, same way your kit is none of theirs
if you cant handle it/dont like it.. there is plenty of servers.. switch to one of them.. or better yet. turn off your bf2 and uninstall it

to be honest, sniping wouldn't nearly be as fun if everyone loved snipers. utterly raping sniper-haters time and time again makes my day. keep it coming.

lol if the weapons are in the game, their up for use. they can be avoided, eg you can hear the sound clip when someone throws a frag, and if you dont rush into every situation you see, you can very often get around claysmetal1215 wrote:

i will continue to play sniper whether you like it or not
i will play as this is my game bought with my stirling, i will not be told what to play by someone ive never met
this kit is useful, argue if you please but i KNOW i can play this kit well, i cannot answer for other people that play the kit i can ONLY play my game.
if they are crap at sniping but refuse to play something else then so be it, what are you going to do?
i dont argue about crap medics/support/anti-tank (so called teamwork kits) so why just sniper?

All in all, all classes are beneficial and frustration comes from people that don't perform well with those classes.
Clear! Alright buddy, you're good to go, now get back to the fight!
Still waiting.
