I wonder what an arrow will do?  I know that sandbags do a good job at stopping bullets, but it does a horrible job at stopping arrows.

Saw that awhile ago.  Didn't really surprise me considering that after about 100 mph hitting water is like hitting concrete.

I know you can't take any risks and must take loads of precaution, sometimes it annoys me at some of the protection they use.  like there, theyre firing a rifle downward into a pool of water not 5 feet below the barell and they need the glass, however its still understandable in this case, but in other instances....

There was one where Adam got in full body padding when making a tiny 2 liter dry ice bomb.  And, he stood nearly 20-30 feet away from it...

I saw the whole episode many moons ago.  The slower bullets didn't disintigrate like the high velocity rounds did.

I am a Rifle and Bow hunter, and it is true that the arrows will generally penetrate things better than bullets.  Bullets are designed to transfer their energy into the object (mushrooming).  Arrows and the various heads are designed to slice through.

@ Eagles...would you like to stand 10 feet away from a dry ice bomb of any size?  Oh yeah.  Colts Rock!

Does that mean that Bullet-proof vests aren't arrow-proof?

Never tried to put an arrow through one.  Theory would say that the smaller heads would have a chance.  Armor piercing bullets are designed with a hardened sharp point.

Just looked it up.  According to the few I looked at quick, Yes, arrows with sharp points that are teflon coated will penetrate bullet proof vests.  So will pointy knives and ice picks.  So Fenris when go crazy and take on the cops use arrows, knives, and ice picks.

They probably are arrow proof, but unless they specifically say so they definately aren't knife proof.  Something to do with the frequence of transfer of energy to the vest, but in the case of the knife, the initial stab won't break through but the pressure of the follow through (leading to a second energy spike) will go through the vest.  Don't know if this would apply to arrows since they are basically one solid object.

Partly correct.  Check my edit.  And it is not the 2 staged energy transfer as much as it is the parting of the fibers.  Basically, really sharp point with enough energy behind it will go through vest.

No, moreso about 20 feet, but without full body padding.
