Alright, I'm just getting sick of this. When I hit any server, even on my OC3 at work, I can ping <15 regularly, I load maps pretty fast, but when it gets to "Loading Complete. Verifying Client Data" I wait an exceptionally long time to finally get through that.
I've tried reinstalling the game, I've formatted and reinstalled the OS, and did a clean install of the game, same deal. I use Diskkeeper 9 for the cleanest defrags I can get. I've got the latest version of Punkbuster. All to no avail.
I compare loading times via Teamspeak, and when sitting next to others, and they are in the game 3 - 4 minutes before I am, even though we load the map about the same times.
Hardware settings:
Windows XP home
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Barton 266MHz
1.5 gigs of Corsair 2700 dual channel RAM
nVidia GeForce 6600 GT AGP with nv4_disp drivers v.6.14.10.7801
ASUS MB, bios fully updated.
Western Digital 120 gig 7200 IDE drive
And Maxtor 80 gig 7200 IDE drive (Have booted off both with fresh XP installs)
I'd try it out on a RAID drive if I thought it would help, but two of my clanmates run 7200 RPM IDEs and don't have this problem If anyone has found a solution to this, or can figure out what might be causing it, I'd be greatful. I'm having trouble getting in for Commander half the time.
By the by, this problem has carried over to BF2:SF as well.
