that's why i don't put much stock in the leopard as of yet, only 2 kills on unarmored vehicles in kosovo to date, even less of a record to run on than the challenger.
The Israeli Merkava(sp), then the Challenger or M1A2. Mostly depends on the situation because they all have strong points. The soviets stuff is all crap, looks good on paper but sucks in reality. The Israeli's built a system that works and can haul ammo/troops into battle. It is made to fight in the desert and is the best desert tank hands down.
All you people looking at "stats" need to remember that "stats" don't mean crap. The M1 can run on many different types for fuel and can carry a Vampire to suck fuel from captured vehicles and such. It is also big and comfortable by tank standards which means alot in battle. Also its rated speed doesn't mean squat because it is a governed speed. The fact is that the 1500hp turbine can make the tank go so fast that the tracks will expand out and come apart. Fire control systems and ammo mean a hell of alot also.
I base my opinion on what I would not want to go up against in battle and from the experience of being a tanker.

Yeah, it sounds stupid and unimportant. But most other tanks are diesel only. Really sucks when the only thing available are gasoline from peoples cars, or gasoline at a gas station, kerosine, jet fuel, ethenol.....kr@cker wrote:

Also the engine and transmission on a M1 can be completely changed in less then 45 minutes in the field. Try to do that with any soviet/russian tank.

The Tiger is not the best tank ever, nor is it the best tank of WWII. I've seen many people on a different forum debate this topic over and over about the Tiger, and it always ends in tears.
