2142 requirements are a joke. The gaps between the levels need to be increased quite a bit I think. Or like someone mentioned already... you're going to have servers full of Generals with every unlock, ribbon, award, and medal in half a years time. Then all you'll see is full servers in BF2 and empty 2142 servers. A lot of people play the game solely because its fun (me included), but the majority of people play simply to get awards and prestige and lose interest once they accomplish it. But I think the ranks are this way for a reason... it keeps everyone playing more because they think higher ranks = they are the shit. And just about when everyone starts maxing out their shit, EA is going to release a $30 expansion pack with more awards, etc. Then a whole new BF game next year around the same time, hooray? Fack it... BF2 could have been milked for another yaer or two.

it makes sense for bf2142 to have more ranks, and quicker ranks, as there are more unlocks...

I agree with it though.
Games should never reward time as the most important factor that´s just plain wrong, what should keep you playing a game is pure joy and fun no damn time requirements.
And unlocks should be reachable for anyone the system in Bf2142 is alot better sure they could add some ranks for the super hardcore guys out there if that´s what makes them happy....
