Hi

Can any one help me please????

I was recently playing 2142 when my ping rate shot up from around 30 (my average) to above 200, I was soon booted from the server, and have not been able to join another since, as my ping is so high (showing now at 700)

This problem is not just with 2142, it is also preventing me from playing BF2 as well.

I am using an Netgear Router, on Orange ISP at 1mg broadband conection, we have never had this problem before.

Any help/points would be greatfully received.

Many thanks

Arty-magnet.

Do you have your router port forwarding turned on? If it is make sure that the IP that it is pointing to matches the computer you are using to play 2142 on.

Tried that as well, mem process is good.

I was wondering if it had something to do with my ISP, or the BT line somewhere, going to give them a call tonight and get the line checked out, but I want to try and cover all base's, and sometime's I miss the simple things.

Thanks for the help, if you do think of some thing please let me know.

Check your firewall permissions too ... they might be blocking your ports. Have you tried a speedtest? (www.speakeasy.net/speedtest)

I dont know how to do it, and I thought that was only if you wanted to post an internet game???

Im always willing to learn and try new things though.

You should have it on ...

That is probably a big part of your problem right there. (EA Port Information)

same stuff happens to me from time to time. i fix the problem by cycling power to my router. port forwarding doesn't seem to matter for me for some reason. i've got a linksys router, and it seems to work fine as is with bf2142, and no issues with bf2.

on a different note, i cant get CoH port forwarding to do anything either. i have trouble connecting to games when i do it, unless im doing it wrong.

FYI i was looking around about CoH. turns out you only need port forwarding if you host games, but you don't need it if you join them. unfortunately the relic servers are having trouble and a lot of people are just not connecting.
sorry for this being off topic and in the wrong place but it took me quite awhile to find this info.

How many computer are shaaring your 1 mbit connection.
I have 4 PCs hooked up on one 4 mbit connection, and that causes me problems some times.

You can download and run a program called TCPView from www.sysinternals.com

It'll show you any program that is connected to the Internet. The program is tiny so it can run all the time if you want to check over the course of a couple of hours.
