Yes and no.  Dolphin diving just looked silly so I am glad they got rid of that (anyone who disagrees was only good when using this method, you don't see anything this stupid in arcade sports games, so it doen't belong in Battlefield until tanks fly.)  But I noticed that the game lags horribly when compared to any patch before 1.3.  It is still fun, but now just nerf the G36E  : ).

the complete removal of dolphin diving had extremely dire consequences for BF2. Front End:



· Front end - Fixed server browser issues with updating info

· Front End - Multiplayer & Co-op - Players on server list can include Bots instead of human players

· Multiplayer Server filter “maps size” will now work

· Fixed an issue in the front end where pressing tab twice in the IP window would cause the cursor to skip to wrong box



Game Server



· Increased server stability

· All levels - Co-op – Fixed a crash after reviving player without a kit- 1st attempt

· Server - Linux 32 Dedicated – Fixed the server crash when trying to
rotate maps in Special Forces Co- op Mode (fixed on SUSE only. Still
present in Red Hat and Fedora)

· Adjusted the minimum number of players to start the round. The new
values for 16, 32 and 64 players are 6, 6 and 8 respectively.

· Unlocks are once available on unranked servers.

· Ranked server have to have unlocks activated.

· Fixed Issue with the local coop server - If Server Host is kicked and
banned although they do not actually get kicked, no other players may
join the server after that point.

· Fixed a dedicated server crash which was occurring when the user held "CTRL" and "SHIFT" while selecting a map.

· Fixed a crash which would occur when c4 was placed on a flag pole and the server rotated maps.

· Fixed a Vehicle drop crash related bug (missing icon).

· Co-Op bot console commands do not function on local servers.



Client / Gameplay:



· Increased client stability

· Red/Blue nametag bug – Fix to the issue where players would show up with the wrong color name tag

· Introduced a delay from proning to standing to help reduce exploiting

· Adjusted C4 to make throwing more difficult

· Fixed the issue where a red distance marker appears on the ground

· Fixed the issue that caused players arms to become invisible after switching weapons when using throwable items

· Made adjustments to reduce the damage taken by vehicles when driving

· Commander options will no longer available whilst dead.

· Fixed the issue with a spawn point showing up as selected when a player has spawned in during preview round

· Fixed the issue that would cause infantry players to be revived with no kit.

· Fixed several rare graphics crashes.

· Fixed issue with players crashing while clicking "Join Game" in the front end

· Car-Drop: Made adjustments to the car drop feature to help prevent players from exploiting into buildings.

· Fixed an issue tied to projectiles which would sometimes allow tanks
to fire two shells, support to fire multiple rounds, and other issues
(all maps).

· Fixed bug where after 2 rounds on the same map, the top player stars are awarded to the wrong people in the menu

· Transport Helicopters – Increased the armor of all transport helicopters

NEW FEATURES

- Air dropped vehicles:
Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.

- Co-op:
Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game.

Number of Bots: This setting allows you to determine the total number of bots that will spawn in game.

Bot Ratio: This setting allows you to determine the percentage of total bots that will spawn for each team. For example, setting this value to 25 means that 25% of the total bots will spawn in Team 1, and 75% in Team 2. Team 1 is always the MEC, Chinese, or their allies, while Team 2 is always the USA, EU, and their allies.

Bot Difficulty: This setting determines the skill level of the bots. 10 is easiest, 100 is the most difficult.

- Default Kit Selection:
The kit that you used last is remembered at the beginning of the round and between maps.


BUG FIXES & GAMEPLAY TWEAKS

- Fixed issues with remote console and linux server

- Prevented ban list from being cleared in the event of a server crash.

- Fixed the bug where helicopters abandoned in the air would continue flying.

- Fixed issue with player not properly ranking up on servers where they continuously play.

- If the player joins a squad while dead, the player will not be able to use the squad leader as a spawn point until they have respawned once.

- Flag Capture bar now reacts accurately to players entering the capture radius.

- Fixed bug where friendly vehicles showed as valid targets

- Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target.

- Fixed bug that altered mini map functionality

- Adjusted missile count on BF2SF helicopters.

- Fixed bug with Special Forces rank names.

- Fixed repairing HUD for the engineer when in a vehicle

- Adjusted award criteria

- Fixed a client crash after entering 300 characters into the IP address using "connect to IP"

- Fixed a tech hang when creating a single player account from an offline account

- Fixed crash when switching from BF2 to BF2:SF (or vice versa)

- Fixed a crash caused when a player is joining a map and another player logs into the same account

- Fixed a Dragon Valley exploit

- Fixed a bug on Zatar Wetlands where AA missiles would not lock onto oil towers

- Fixed a bug that caused the Eurofighter explosion to appear as a Mig-29 wreckage

Hard Drive Space

Windows will require additional free hard drive space for its operating system
(virtual memory). If you encounter the following message in an error dialog:
"Ran out of virtual memory", free up some more hard drive space.

To install Battlefield 2 Version 1.2 you will need approximately 2.0 GB free hard
disk space for the full patch or 1.5GB for the incremental patch, plus space for
saved games.

If you have Battlefield 2 installed to a different hard disk than where you have
Windows installed then approximately 375Mb (full patch) or 100Mb (incremental patch)
of the required free space must be available on the hard disk where Windows is
installed.

To install Battlefield 2: Euro Force you will need approximately 800Mb free hard
disk space plus space for saved games.


BATTLEFIELD 2: SPECIAL FORCES AND THE PATCH
- It is very important to remember that the Special Forces executable is an earlier
version of the game. If you have purchased Battlefield 2: Special Forces after
you have installed the patch, you will need to reinstall patch 1.2 after

EXPANSION OF RANKS
- Ranks have now been expanded to allow for players to rank up to General


NEW FEATURE
VISIBLE UAV
- The UAV that is placed by Commanders will now include a visual element.
An actual UAV will appear within the UAV detection radius and circle the area.
Players will be able to shoot it down, bringing the UAV detection to a premature
end. The Commander will be able to continue placing UAVs once the timer resets,
as per current design.

on a side note, dolphin diving could have been fixed very simply by never giving a player full accuracy with guns while airborne. Prone spamming could have been fixed without completely destroying the game for skilled players by limiting you to 2 'spams' at a time. That's it. The final word. what would have been the proper solution.

This is why I fucking play BF2142. You know why? Because there haven't been enough fucking patches for all the l33t-skill people to go "ZOMGWTF NERF WTF N00BZRZ". I don't care what you think about the game, it doesn't have this whining/anti-whining whining shit and that's why I play it. And it's not completely different from the original release. BF1942/BF:V/BF2142 community > BF2 community. And that's individually. The 1942/V/2142 communities combined would make the BF2 community (whiners and anti-whining-whiners) look like an housefly compared to an An-225. The only things debated in BF2 are "your kit sucks" "your vehicle sucks" "this is unbalanced" "omg u haxx" and "LOMGNERF".

Good riddance to BF2, the patches, and all associated shit that comes with them.

I joined in 1.12 and all I have to say is people who complain about all post 1.12 patches and the game being a whore-fest are Hippocrates. Even worse are the people who complain about all post 1.12 patches and getting killed by the j-10, in 1.12 it was impossible to kill the jets, you had to rely on the pilot being a n00b and crashing.
