the game got shittier from patch to patch
long ditance tv and blackhawk rapin was fun as hell, ill never understnad why they took that all out

All 1.41 needs is perfect hit rego, that'll be the day
Yeah it`s fucked up, but i still like it now...
They ruined the Blackhawk, Those bastards, that was the shit!!!!! I would get tons of pointss poileting and letting my gunners kill things, --> instant 50= points in Mastushur City. People would scatter if the saw or heard a Blackhawk coming. besides that i don't mind, reloading while sprinting was really helpful. Besides, th egame is still 10x better than 2142
Ah Yes.
1.12. What an Era. I remember I was nearly addcited to the game. It was just so fun.
Recently, I had been frustrated by BF2, so I turned it off for a week.
Just Yesterday, I came back. I tried to play. I clicked on a server, and it crashed to desktop.
I was truly pissed off.

I still like the game, and besides Gears of War it one of the better games out there, i don't exactly see why everone is so pissed, the only change from me was the crashes and the gimped Blackhawk
1.12 where good times, but if it bothered me that much i think i would just stop playing and not whine about it...
1.12 was the best patch
IMO i never liked prone spamming, but i could live with it
but no.1 priority should be fixing the hitboxes and hit registration, the delays between prone and getting up have done nothing but make hit registration worse and worse, and it still crashes.
Dice should have simply gone back to 1.12 and then fixed it from there instead of working with 1.3, that would've definitely been nice

Never did dolphin diving 'cause i got BF2 just before 1.41 came out.
Meh.
Personally, the reason I bought the game was because random massive slaughter in COD2 seemed kind of pointless after a while, and I got sick of it.
I see nothing wrong with 1.41, and i like the game, other than the random ping spikes now and then (34ms - 180ms), but that could just be my internet connection.

I dont remember when I started, I was to much of a newb to be paying attention to patch numbers...
You could cap flags with multiple people in a vehicle and you could still throw c4 real good....
Maybe I wasn't good enough to take advantage off all the stuff they have since "ruined" but I could give a fuck about the patches...
The game has always worked plenty fine for me, even during 1.3 (though I did have some disconnects, and servers crashed more often)
So with the exception of 1.3 which was slightly worse the patches don't bother me at all. Not really better or worse. I can see where you might miss some of the stuff taken away in the changes, but I think for the most part you all (or at least those who complain) are being a little melodramatic.

Persevere, Adapt, Overcome
I have bent every patch over my knee and given each a pant's down spanking with my bare hand.
If the build a better moustrap, I'll just have to be a smarter mouse.

The changes made the infantry combat are minor compared to the changes made to air combat.Longbow wrote:

Honestly, if it bothers you so much, why are you still visiting the BF2 forums? Sarge, why are you still playing (we can see from your stats that you are still in fact playing) if you think it isn't fun? At least Linus disconnected his stats so we can't see that he still plays regularly.Madhadda1 wrote:

After going on 3 consecutive servers today where it took me at least 15 hits to kill someone, I got so pissed off that I uninstalled BF2 and called it quits. But when I checked the folder to make sure it had all fucked off, I found my old backup copy of 1.12. So, I started it up, and realised how much fun this game once was. Everything was smooth, fun, and problem-free. I suggest you at least try it once again, just to see how much better it is.
I should never have had doubts about buying BF2. All that time I missed before DICE brought an end to their own game.
So, do you think that BF2 has actually gotten better throughout the patches? or even remains any fun at all?
I don't.
Their patches need their own patches. They cant even get the server IP to show up on the
connecting page.. and in-game as well. They should ship Teamspeak, A notepad and a package
of ink pens with every copy.
I knew it was all downhill when they issued a patch just for the anti jumping ('bunny hop') cry babies.
When they go out of their way to cave in to some cry babies who cant hit a guy whos jumping, you
know its over.
DICE is and always will be pathetic. I will never purchase another EA product. Ive learned my lesson.
Their stats system ruined the game... ranked servers meant babysitting rules (# before game starts..)
also created stat padders which created ego bastards who thought their rank actually meant something.
Not to mention, nobody ever answered my question from 18 months ago.. WHY DO RANKED SERVERS
COST MORE THAN UNRANKED ? Never a valid answer to that one.. same bandwidth, same game. Why
more? Because EA strong armed gsps forcing them to give them free servers ? Blah give me a break.
EA and DICE are the worst combination of Producer / Marketer ever made. Some of the bugs in this
game have been there since day one. Its also the most unstable game engine Ive ever seen in my 25+
years of gaming.
Never another one of my dimes, ever.
Look people, if the game is so painful for you to play, then stop playing. I am absolutely fed up with people taking a break from playing 3 hours a day to post threads about how much this game sucks. YES it has changed, YES some of those changes wern't requested/required, NO you don't have to keep playing. Some of us enjoy playing. There was an issue during 1.3 where playing was not possible, but on the whole the patches have made the game more dynamic. Sure, now you can't dolphin dive, but if you put in a little practice you would be able to hit a target without doing a superman-style flying leap through the air.
Get over yourselves. If you are sick of this game go outside and reclaim your lives.
OK, I'm done. Sorry I had to get that off my chest.
The game is worse that it used to be for sure. Laggier, slower loading, AA is too good. Jets are ok mainly because they have speed on their side, but choppers are too weak amour wise. It makes me really fucking angry when you get lit up by an aa, flare, one or both missiles hit, you kill the guy, and head back to repair. On the way back some noob kills you with a jeep. Really jeeps are fucking lethal to choppers.
This is how I know that this game has changed for the better. I see fewer and fewer people complaining about something in game. (Claymores don't count, simply because alot of that is a hate for the sniper kit). This forum used to be filled with active threads with people complaining about how "this was over powered" or "that needs to be nerfed". I don't see that all too often anymore. And that tells me that the game is better for everyone.
Maybe you don't like it, and thats okay. Want to revert back to a certain patch so you can have fun? Go for it. In fact, host your own server, make it unranked, and you and all the people who agree with you can go play whatever patch your heart desires.
As for me, I'm happy with 1.41. I'll be staying here.

Patches got better till 1.12, 1.12 was very good
1.2 was claywhoreing, kinda annoying but planes got easier (not good for everyone though, but at least some chance for those on the ground)
1.21 or 1.22 (whatever) was better than it's previous patch, limiting claymores to 2 but you couldn't set them off with nades anymore.
1.3 was without doubt the worst patch ever. Server crash and ctd
1.4 made things better again. No more crashes. (but we had to wait LONG for it)
1.41 is oke, don't notice a lot between 1.4 and 1.41 actually. It's oke now, if you play the right servers (low ping)
Patch 1.00 till patch 1.41, idiots will always be around.

I never had any problems with BF2 until 1.41. Now the game is almost unplayable. Every time I try to sprint or go near a door or rock etc., the game freezes up. I try to take one step to shoot someone and wind up 20 feet away facing a wall, wondering how I got there. I also have frequent CTD's now. I never had one before 1.41.
As far as changes the patches have made to gameplay, the only ones that bothered me were the ones to explosives. Not being able to blow up an enemy claymore with a grenade, or set off a mine with a grenade is retarded. The same with being able to turn off FF for clays and mines. This is the kind of whining EA shouldn't have listened to.
I have tried EVERY suggestion on BF2S to fix my game. If I don't come up with something soon, I'm going to quit playing. It's just not fun with the horribly choppy gameplay.

no but i still love that p90 and thows guns wow just wow
whatever, its still a lot of fun. i got into the game late too, so i spent very little time playing 1.12 (and knowing what to do with it) but i really dont feel compelled to complain about the game as it is.
the noob tube still owns, bunnyhopping saves your life anytime u need it to, you can still dolphin dive like a crazy fiend, and blackhawks can still get you across the map if u fly them correctly.
and i have definitely noticed the frequency of server crashes drop SHARPLY since the last patch. I actually cant remember the most recent server crash, it was probably weeks ago. i only get ctds while TS or vent is running. i never ever see the red-blue glitch anymore either. And for that matter, I hardly ever encounter bonafide hackers (wall glitchers are frequent but laughably easy to detect, they get kicked unless u are at some dumb abandoned server).
i do wish you could destroy mines and claymores. and ff off on claymores was terrible because people actually started using them (making the rare ff on server pretty annoying to discover). attack choppers would be cooler with full range, and i agree that the "ceiling" if u will, on infantry skill is sort of limited when you slow down the rate at which a person can go from prone to standing. battles with good players would be even more intense if people could go prone and stand with whatever rhythm and speed they want. i dont know how fast i could move and shoot if there were no limitations. as it stands, i am aiming fine at the maximum speed it allows so its sort of like the prone delays prevent any further improvement in the speed with which i do things. its not so cool and probably keeps the unbelievably fast players from being able to stand out for performing at their speeds.
but given how many shots i still see people missing in bf2, it doesnt seem like there is a problem with people not being mobile enough to dodge skillfully. the best players currently seem to be the ones with the most consistent aim on top of at least decent movement skills. knowing how easy it is to dodge people's shots with the current prone and standing delays, i fear that people could be almost perpetually impossible to land shots on in the old patches. and being that the prone move is such a helpful dodge, i think the delays force you to use it more carefully and selectively, which is a more intellectual skill than quickly deploying it over and over again because u dont know exactly when to use it.
so thats my point of view. the patches werent necessarily good but the game is still fun.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of having to learn how to play a game I bought four different times. I love the "ADAPT" argument, because without all of the handicapped players' eyes welling up with tears, we'd still be able to enjoy this game. Hit rego has always been atrocious though, which is really bottomline unacceptable for any FPS game where aim matters the most. The first shot deviation has always been terrible, but never as bad as it is now. If I aim at someone's head and shoot, I should hit them. "Learn to aim" doesn't cut it. I know how to aim, believe me, and most of the time I get the kills. However it's way too often that well placed shots simply don't register and I waste another half a clip.
It's made me think that maybe support is king, since you really don't have to worry about much shot deviation over time and you can just spray until your heart's content. 1.12 infantry set a clear boundary between the skilled players and the bad ones. There was no doubt at all who could micro better and handle multiple tasks while killing. That's really what it comes down to. The newbies that couldn't micro and shoot got pissed, so they dumbed the game down for them.
ALL of that aside even, take away ALL the fun that infantry used to be and put it on the shelf and I'd still be upset with 1.41. Dolphin diving made people mad? I'll tell you what makes ME mad, when I go prone to shoot, and instantly stand back up automatically (Can't shoot in between then either) and get killed like an idiot thanks to a bug that affects my gameplay a lot more than anyone dolphin diving ever did.
