im currently using an onboard soundcard... and long story short need a soundcard/headphones for cpl.

personally... im kind of against expensive soundcards.. i just dont think they can produce what they cost...
but i DO want to have every advantage possible (hearing a grenade land would be greaaaat)  so any ideas on what soundcard / headset i should get for a reasonable price.

ive heard of the usb headphones w/ sound cards in em.. do they really work well?

I already have a mic so i dont need headphones w/ a mic.

main things is price - and ability to hear important things (footsteps, grenades, gunfire)  i could honestly care less about how good it sounds as long as i can hear it.

wanting something that ranges from 50 to ~130       150 absolute max

thanks ^^

the soundblaster x-fi xtrememusic is a very good card (it has all the bells and whistles of the better cards, only the front panel is missing) and still has a reasonable price ($ 92 currently on newegg) link

EDIT: in fact its only $ 72 after mail in rebate

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I have integrated graphics. Soundstorm 6.1 from the NForce 2 days, and even I can here grenades land....

I'm sure there's a certain level of performance increase with the upper end soundcards, but after a while I imagine the price just doesn't justify the performance increase...
