My current Power Supply

I'll be buying:

ATI x1950pro
Intel Conroe 6600
GigaByte 965P-DS3 (mobo)
ThermalTake Soprano Case (old case & mobo are micro-atx)

What else I have in my current setup:

1x1GB OCZ platinum ram
Maxtor 200GB HDD
2xDVD drives

I was hoping to not have to upgrade my PSU too, but if it ends up melting my new hardware I'd rather wait a month longer and buy a new quality PSU. Can I run my new hardware safely on this PSU?

I love it how my hardware-related threads always get next to no views..

So could I maybe run that hardware on my current PSU just for a few weeks?

yeah. no go.

i have similar specs and ended up getting a 520W PSU for $45...has run for 1.5 years no problem, even with an exuberant number of case fans and lights (LAN parties ftw.)

current psu states 18 amps on the 12v rail, yes it will run albeit only in 2d mode (guessing).
2d mode (desktop) draws less power than 3d mode (games) so you should be able to install windows and what not and get everything set up to play on. i just wouldn't stress the hardware out until you get a new psu, that way you wont overload the psu and damage anything.

ok, thanks a lot. So, out of this list of PSU's I can buy, which would be a good choice?

list

PREFERRABLY less than 100 euro's, but if it will last me for 1.5-2 years then it doesn't really matter.

or this one if you dont care about slightly less power, and it's slightly cheaper.

not sure you need to upgrade tbh, the zalmans arent bad with 18A on the 12v....try the calculator yourself - even allowing for aging given your components its still under- unless you have more kit you havnt said.

Just dont hook the x1950 up and you'll be fine.

PSU ratings for graphics cards are over rated anyway. I'm running a 7600GT on a 305W PSU lol (allbeit it has 22A on the 12v rail...)

One thing people don't think of is undervoltage. That can hurt hardware as much as overvoltage.
