Hey guys
I was getting annoyed at ads on my comp so I installed Norton Internet Security. Now when I join an online game it kicks me after 10 seconds for "Inadequate O/S Privillages"

What does this mean and how do I fix it?
Ive tried turning off the firewall but to no difference

Any help is appreciated

I think advising people to close their AV protection for indefinite periods, while having ports left open, on the internet, leaving it vunerable to attack, is a splendid idea.

Infact, maybe if i hit -1 enough times, you might get a +1

My guess is, the issue lies in Norton period.

Sorry, but Ive always noticed that program to create problems.

inadequate priviledges means you must be logged on as an administrator on your computer.

If you are logged on as an admin, then it is usually caused by punkbuster

Download and run this file from any location, it will check for adware that stops you from being able to play on PB servers. The VX2 adware edits your user rights when it infects your computer, and many programs do not repair this when they remove it.

http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/VX2Finder(126).exe

Click the "Find VX2.betterinternet info" button to make sure that you don't have this adware. If there are no files listed, go on to the last step. If you find the adware files, (it is usually 3 random named dll files) Select all the files found.

Press 'Delete These Files'. The program will delete all files but one that will be deleted on reboot. Allow program to reboot. Once Restarted:

Press 'Guardian.reg'.
Press 'User Agent'.
Press 'Restore Policy'.
Clicking on "find vx2.BetterInternet info" again should show all fields blank.
If you have no adware files, just click on the "Restore Policy" Button
+1 for that

I thought the Inadiquate OS priv problem was because the user isnt on an admin account on XP.

I've got no issues with it, I just gave it full access.

You've got spyware, dude. Go get adaware or something.

I don't think that Norton is the problem. I'm running NIS05 without any issues whatsoever. If spyware is causing the issue, I suggest you get Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware, scan with both and retry playing.

Remember to be logged in as a system supervisor in order to play, too.

In other words, what many of the people above me just said.

Me too, it asks once when I install BF2 if it should allow it to connect to the internet & that's it.
