I've noticed that less and less people care if they win or lose a battle (because the only thing you can gain from winning is the war collage ribbon - and thats too illuseive).

So I was thinking:

What if the squadleaders got a SMALL amout of "commander score" (because he is commanding the squad= every time the squad neutralized or captured a control point.. or maybe split them between them and the squadleader got 2x if the team won?

(if the points arnt split (or the regular GI dosnt get anything from this feature) there will be 9 squads with minimum personal... or maybe the squadmembers gain a small amout of teamwork for that..

anyway.. its just me and my mind wandering about but I think the game would be more realistic (people actually wanting to follow orders - things get done - and people stick to their squads and work together for the common goal - capturing / holding enemy / friendly positions - and ultimatly winning the battle.

for this to have any effect - the commander must give orders?? - its a question I havent answered myself yet...

Sounds like a good idea to me! It's just the fact that noones voice is heard. The good idea people should gather together and train EA/dice how to make a game and they'll make it right!

Well, I follow the orders when they don't send me across the map when we're in the middle of capping a flag...or when they ask us to repair something and we don't have an engineer...

When I've got a good commander, I'm his wet dream of a squad leader. When I've got an adequate commander, I'll follow orders, but maybe tarry on the way, if it seems appropriate. In those rare instances of a very active, very poor commander, don't expect any response...I will NOT go across Zatar to cap the MEC back spawn point when I'm fighting at the airfield...that's stupid...let's leave the immediate, urgent battle and cap the back spawn...lol

OTOH, like I said, I want to win and I'm a damn good follower/leader as necessary...

I love those "repair this!" Orders that seem to have no forfought in them. Commanders who just randomly pick a good frontline squad to rush back to base & repair the commanders trowser press
But I think squad leaders & even squad members should get a bonus from playing the game in a squad & plaing the game more on the objective of the team winning, than any personal achievement like kills or whatever.

Squad Leaders gaining points from and effective squad similar to how Commanders get points from their team is an excellent idea and on I mentioned many months ago and fully agree upon. There needs to be some insentive to good squad play and a good squad leader. To be a good squad leader often means staying out of harms way and the action giving your squad cover and spotting from a more secure location. This allows your squad to respawn on you and keep pushing against the attack point. Unfortunately this doesn't give the SL anything more than player satisfaction and that just isn't enough for most people.

I say give Squad Leaders the same teamwork point awards that the Commander gets. Just for only their squad.

Simple solution that always works for me to make the team follow orders: Use VOIP. Give your orders by VOIP, ask if people need supplies by VOIP. They don't need to have a mic to respond. If your team is actually a team they don't care about points, they care about pulling off a certain task (winning) and working together to do so. I experienced one of the best teams I've ever had on RAW! West Coast Special Forces server on the Warlord Map. I did everything by VOIP, and because they listened to me we won.

I like the Laissez-faire commander who does not give orders but drops supplies and listens and responds immediately to requests. Sometimes I just get annoyed with repair orders your the commander just use your wrench!

In 2142 the team-work is upped a little because you get small bonuses for killing someone in an attack or defend area. Also if you heal someone in your squad you don't just get the heal point but also a squad assist bonus.

Still, teamwork is rare....EA did all they could to help really.

I've found that being a good squad leader will cost you points rather than earning them. To hold a spawn point for the squad to cap a flag is thankless and point free but doing so can mean the difference between a win and a loss at the end of the round. I enjoy the strategy of the game, so I thrive as a squad leader, however it would be nice to get points for my teamwork. Unfortunately I don't see anything changing in this regard.

Another way to encourage teamwork is to give a command bonus point for completing an order. For example, the commander tells a squad to cap a flag, once that squad caps the flag each member in the squad at the flag gets a bonus point on top of the flag capping point. That gives the squad an incentive to follow orders and as their score increases, so does that of the commander.

Just my thought.
