I see it more as bridging the control gap between consoles and PC's to allow PC gamers to have a somewhat familliar control scheme while playing an FPS on a console.
I'd love to have a go-round with Gears of War but I ain't owned a console since my trusty PS1 and let's face it......my thumbs may be opposable, but they can't aim worth a shit! My limited experience with GoW was frustrating to say the least. At least with a device like this I could aim with with my arm instead of my thumb (my thumbs seem to be a bit retarded when it comes to console controls....)
Console gamers are going to be a hard sell for SplitFish because they are already comfortable with the current control devices. PC gamers on the other hand, should see this as a major step in the right direction toward a common control scheme between the two.
Another thing which could benefit us PC gamers here is that as console controls evolve toward the sweet spot currently known as the KB/Mouse combo (if and when), we could expect to see some better GUI's and mouse interactive menu's as opposed to the usual crap menu interfaces that are so common with console to PC ports. I'm really sick of having to use the arrow keys to navigate the menu's of many ported games (SCDA comes to mind here...)
I've never even once considered picking up a 360/PC3 until now but this thing has me thinking I might.
Two standouts here for me are the "resolution change on the fly" and the "rumble mouse" both of which are firsts for a console controller.
Stop by a GameStop if you get a chance and take one for a spin, they just went on sale today. I'd like to hear some user feedback there are no reviews out yet......
