I've already seen 2 Players while playing Special Forces who had their names in an orange colour, no matter if they were in a squad or not. You could also notice that there was an empty space before their name.
When the round finished I could see, that they both seemed to use this prefix (without the ""): "§C BC="
When I tried to add that prefix to my name it wouldn't work, because a § does not seem to be allowed.
So what is it all about this? By the way: One of those players name was Smirnovevil.

Haven't seen that yet.  If you see it again, take a screen shot and post please.
Welcome to the forums by the way.

Thanks!
I would have taken a screenshot if I wasn't always so concentrated on the game...

I know two guys with different colours too. They're both in the MaSS clan, hutchy52 and cu1234maggot (or something like that).

I did, but could not find anything.

By the way I managed to get me also an orange nametag by editing the Global.com:

Would be interesting if there are any other colours possible...

Well you must not be using the search right... perhaps that is the problem, people don't know how to effectively use a search function. Try the term 'orange name' the answer is in there.

wait,

does this change their name color when you put your reticule on them to????? If it makes them appear as anything other than red when enemies then I consider this a hack.

If this is just refering to the little in game chatter then who cares.

Hm, I can't check on that since I do not know what the enemy sees.
But I did not feel that my opponents were confused weather to shot at me or not...

it's the same type of code used in quake, etc that changes anything following to that color.

when you initiate a vote of some sort, the text will be orange as well, not grey.

and thats why
You [Knife] Enemy is fully orange
and Enemy[Knife] You is only your name.

The name floating atop their heads is normal, green for squadmates, blue for teammates, and red for enemies. Also when you see the name above their head it will show the prefix ie. "§C Orangy McName Guy." It is only in the chat dialogue and the kill messages that the name is orange.

I have noticed that more people will vote out the players with orange names - probably cause it's hard to miss their name next to the 'page up to vote yes' message.

I've also seen players with large names like they've changed the font size somehow, probably the same thing with some special characters in front of their names.

Hi

You have to insert in into your Global.Con. its kinda lame - gets others distracted

As you can see on the screens above I already managed to do so.
And it is not lame. It is totally ubercoolish! Everyone asks me why my name has a different colour. They think I'm some kind of admin or special ranked guy.
Finally I get the attention I deserve!

EA Eliminated that in the 1.03 patch for BF2.. They considered that hacking there code. So when they come out with the next patch.. and they see all the people that have done this.. They might set your Stats back to ZERO. Well it is something to think about before doing it. If you have spent alot of time gaming in the BF2 & SF then you will think twice before showing something to the public as cool. Because the next time you are on to check your stats you see that you are back to square one. nothing.

They never reset anyone in 1.02.  Why would they? It does not affect stats and crosshair color.  People just get confused and think they are admins/commanders which is why EA changed it.

To change size = §3
To change color to orange =§c

Why don't we ask EA to make it so the commander sees all the squads in different colors. this way he knows were all the squad member of each squad is. This way you have a better way of directing the squad to the location you want. Or make it more realistic then.. Get rid of the name tag, So you have to ID the uniform instead of seeing a name. This way you don't have to worry about the SIZE and color of fonts.
