For the past week or so 2 IEXPLORER.EXE processes have been running on my PC.
When I try to end them they just restart themselves. About a week ago I was browing the internet & like 40 pop ups randomly sprung up on my PC, then my mouse spazzed out & after a system restart I thought everything was fine. Could I have been "attacked" so to speak?

I need a good AV program to get rid of these 2 processes. I dont want these 2 processes to grow into a monster of a virus.

Sounds like a virus to me.  I had one called Dir3ctX.exe that did similar crap, but I surfed the internet and found a cure.

http://www.liutilities.com/products/win … iexplorer/

^That should help.

AVG Antispyware
HijackThis

Yep. If ever you're a bit suss about a program, just run its name in Google and LiUtilites is usually the first result. I'd only really trust them too.

Internet explorer is iexplore.exe not iexplorer.exe, You've picked up this lil puppy (EDIT <-- same as Havoks link)

Get Adaware or summin like that, it should fix it.

Ach, you are right.

How clever, they make the name of the virus similar to a trusted program (not that I'd trust IE)

Firefox is slower these days BTW, and it's not IE that's running those processes.

If I did go with a 3rd party browser it'd be Opera, I used to love FF but it's just fallen so horribly behind.

I use IE7 these days, never once had a virus on my PC sinse the day I got it (PC that is not IE7).

You should get to this screen, in case you're not sure you're in Safe Mode or not after mashing F8, having no pretty Windows Is Loading screen, and when it finally loads, it looks like absolute crap.

nope, it always has been and always will be F8. we are not talking about the BIOS here.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I think it is just shift in general, or you can configure the Boot.ini to allow you to have the option everytime you start Windows.  It's useless if you ask me, but I know how to bring up the menu, got to love working in a tech support center for 2 and a half years.

Get your PC into {Safe Mode with Netorking} by hitting F8 when you see the BIOS posting, about 2 to 5 seconds after power up.

Delete Temp files and temporary internet files and cookies. Then go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall anything that looks suspect. (Be careful with this one if your not familiar with the programs, do a little research on Google first)

Go to http://www.anitvirus.com and run the free virus and spyware scan.

While doing that download Ad-Aware SE from http://www.lavasoftusa.com

Run the update for Ad-Aware SE and run a full system scan.

Reboot normally and run a Google search for Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4.

Spybot is a bit slower then Ad-Aware SE but it will find malcious files that Ad-Aware SE won't.

Run Windows update and update your anti virus software.

I have cleaned and restored around 30 or more PC's over the last year with this procedure.

Or install Windows Defender.  It is just as good as those applications.

Lawl! You said a funny!

So far collectively, Defender has found on all the machines I've serviced: 3 results. And thats being generous.

You don't!

Get AVG, Avast or Avira (Personal preference: AVG)

...

But uninstall Norton. Your computer will thank you for it.
