My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
depends. are you playing the file once its an mp3 with quicktime? try it with wmp.
also, the .wav encoder sounds WAY better then the lame_enc.dll mp3 codec. i would stick to ye-olde .wav.

ye-olde .wav is ye-olde huge. And how's he going to work with an mp3 with the wav encoder. He's having problems just getting Audacity to work with it.[TUF]Whiskey_Oktober wrote:

Did that sound smug?

If I remember correctly, you have to locate the "lame_dll" for the program.
If you didnt do it than you have to go to EDIT>Prefferences>File Formats
Somewhere on that window you will have a button called, something like, "Find File" or "Find Library".
Click that and than browse your HD and find the "lame_dll" file. Click ok and on the "File Formats" window you should see, something like, "MP3 prefferences" with Lame version and bitrate for exporting etc.
Also what type of file are you trying to import in a Project in audacity ???

So from what i can tell its an MP3 encoder, I have always used DBpoweramp (in my mind the best audio conversion tool possible) give that a try it will convert anything
yea it asked me to locate lame and I did but still, how do I add it to plugins or w\e
well locating it should be enough. Im confused, what format is the audio file that you are importing ?
And can you play it ?
And Loontic its not just a converter, its a sound editing program. Quite good actualy and free. Only 2 MB.
And you can use Winamp to convert sound formats.

well the song Im trying to convert is in wma and when i import it into audacity i can only play like half the second of the song, same thing when I export it, Idunno whats wrong
It could be that audicity cant read "wma" files.
Try importing a Wav or a MP3 file and try playing it.
If I understand you correctly that is the problem.
EDIT: If you can play wavs and convert them to MP3s than obviusly it cant read wma's.
One solution is to use another program, or if yount to use audacity than you can use winamp first to convert to Wav and than audacity to edit it and export it.
BTW my mistake earlier, only winamp PRO has a file converter integrated, but every winamp can export to Wav.
Il download audacity later... if you dont make it.

lol...just thinking of this, boy was i suprized when my mentor (im doing an internship with the elementary IT dept.), told me to install audacity on all the lab computers. i didnt think anyone really knew about audacity, and certainly not public institutions (they tend to lean to the overly-expensive software).
anyway, ive been using audacity scince 1.1, and honestly, the wav sounds so much better the space ie worth it.

Some labs at my university also use it. Some also use Adobe Audition which is realy awsome.
And PJ man, just use winamp (im sure you have it - everyone does) and export the file to wav. It taks few seconds to do it.

He speaks the truth. Doesn't go above 48KHz though in case anyone wants to go higher. Of course it could just be my software version/sound card that's stopping me from going above 48.loonitic wrote:

I don't, i'll have to reinstall it at some point. It's pretty much the "media player for gamers", lol.zeidmaan wrote:
