Well, I've got to suck in my pride and admit defeat on this one, and ask for some help.
History of my little problem:
(At this point I hate Win98, it's German to me, and I find most of my programs incompatible with 98.)
Computer was brought to me for repair, older PC mainly used for solitaire and word processing. 500MHz P3 running Win98, crashing, and having SMART errors for it's near 7 year old stock 'Quantum Fireball' hard drive. The hard drive was evidentially shit, so I cloned(something I don't like to do, but at this point it was a 'do or die' situation for her HD) it's 19.5GB contents to a 60GB drive. Windows still works fine, everything is in order, the PC actually boots up faster and runs better.
Now, the problem I'm having, that I beg for help on because I'm stumped, is as follows:
When I installed the 60GB drive, there were already two partitions, one 20GB formatted to FAT32, one 40GB formatted to NTFS. I cloned her drive to the 20GB, and was going to format the other 40GB as storage for her, and if she wanted more work done I would do it.
Win98 does not read NTFS.
The drive is a 60GB Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 60 Ultra ATA 100. I have little to no experience working with Maxtor drives. The program MaxBlast 4 would not let me partition the 40GB to FAT32. Win98 install disc would not let me partition the 40GB to FAT32. Partition Magic won't install (I don't have good luck with Win98).
Is there any way, any program, any advice you can give me to meet my 12PM EST deadline? I've already given her an estimate, and wrote up a bill, but if I can't give her the storage space, I'm going to have to take some money off her bill, or give her a few more days in the shop.
More money = happy Dave = more tech products for Dave.
Thanks in advance for any advice, programs, and flames (if you feel so inclined).
