No you didn't, you needed to be the Sergeant Major who got the most points during a specific month to get it.

I don't know if it can still be awarded or not. But if it is, you have to be the Sergeant Major with the highest amount of points at the start of the month to get it.

Unfortunately, this proved a bit disastrous. Lots of players who were Sgt Major (back when it was like 150,000) didn't update to Patch 1.2, which meant that some Japanese dude with like 180,000 got it for a while. He finally played again, but chances are there's another SMotC if it's still functioning.

On my BFHQ it says my next rank is Sgt Maj of the Corps and that my progress to next rank is totally full.  I just got Sgt Maj and there's no way I have the highest score...or ever will.  But according to BFHQ you can still get Sgt Maj of the Corps.  I don't expect to and don't really care if I do or not.  I'm looking to the officer ranks.
