I can't remember which ocean, I just know it's deep enough that you can't see anything, and that it's harder to find than finding the Titanic was.  Much harder. Mostly because these things move around so much, and because there isn't much you can catch a giant squid with.

Its off the coast of Japan in a large trench that goes down 10 kilometres its part of the pacific ring of fire (off the top of my head) (Pacific ring of fire is why its so deep) The pacific ring of fire is the most active place in the whole entire world volcanically and has craploads of earthquakes it is basically a ring in which tectonic plates converge and join together the San Andreas faulline is a small branch from the Pacific Ring of Fire. This is from what I remember learning 10 years ago I hopes its still correct.
